Advice on shipping in an envelope

Hello everyone!

I was hoping someone could give me some advice on this.

Sending bubble-padded envelopes that are 8x5x1, weighing only 1 ounce costs $13 and some change to Germany, right? (Assuming I've done this right, I'm using the Etsy calculator).

But when I look it up on the USPS site, they have an option fer plain envelopes that only costs $1 and some change even though the weight and dimensions are roughly the same.

Would it make any sense to do it that way instead? Putting a small jewellery box in an envelope and sending it out to Germany?

Fergive me, it says less than 1/4 inches. I would have to bubblewrap the bracelet instead?

The rate for envelopes/ flats are for documents only, not merchandise. You need to send a bracelet First Class Parcel. You might find this helpful too:
