45 characters per line

Lately I am having trouble with USPS not accepting International addresses as my customers have given them to me. They state something about a character limit per line for street address and city. Never happened in 6 years, so...what are you guys doing about it?

The one I had going to France I was able to shorten, because I know French, and know the regions of France. But I have no idea how to shorten an address in Japanese or Cyrillic. On this one I am going to simply not print my label thru Paypal or Direct Checkout. But this is only a stopgap.

Sometimes I move the text to another box if it is something I can make sense of (since there's usually at least one line/box that is unused), but I've been doing that for a long time. I guess the only sure thing to do would be to write the customer and ask them to help.
