Re: Welcome New and Old Members

Wow! I'm here in Canada and we have a WiFi internet connection!
Got here yesterday with no problems. 20 hour drive, but then we were fishing in less than an hour, and catching fish, so it was all worth it.

Darn son out fished the old man yesterday, I'll have to correct that glitch today.

Have fun ladies, I know I am.

Good morning!

Tim, it sounds like a great time will be had!! 20 hour drive? Wow.

Jan, good for you getting out and enjoying your yard day. You should definitely try the mowing. Instant gratification. Tall grass, no tall grass. I love to look back and see my mowed path.

I was mostly worthless yesterday. I did take some pictures and do some listing but I'm still recovering from my trip. My 4 hour drive doesn't even compare to Tim's 20 hrs but for me that's a long trip.

I had a sale to UK this morning. It always amazes me that overseas people are willing to pay the shipping to get something from the US. .•'´¯)¸.•'´¯)¸.•'´¯)

Have a great day and waves to all...

Re: Welcome New and Old Members

Hi Folks!

Some of you may remember me - it has been a while since I've had my Etsy Shop open!

Moving was quite an Event in 2012 - I had to make a choice that was easiest for me to handle - and I just had most of my stuff (but not all) in my Artfire Studio - and I have been so busy - first with settling in to my new home - then with getting back online - then with a series of Large Custom Orders and lots of personal "stuff"!

Some people kept recommending that I do Etsy again - but it has taken me a while to just get it together.

Klaire, Julie, Tim, Brenda, Diane Clancy, Pat - I've been keeping in touch with some of you on Facebook, but I am actually glad to be back in here with all of you!!

Decor for Interior Design is mostly what I make - though some of it is rather small. The series of Large Custom Orders I was doing were for someone who had redecorated their home and wanted a series of Thread Crochet pieces - from medium to very large - that matched their decorating theme! Every piece was Custom Designed - and luckily I had enough of the same thread in the same colors they wanted to do all the pieces, so all the pieces they wanted match exactly!!! It was great - but took a lot of time to do them all!!! (it was from an Artfire person)

Tim - congratulations for getting in the Artfire Email on "Wooden Wonders - Fantastic Finds" - I would recognize that Cutting Board anywhere as yours!! And have a great vacation!

I only have 8 items listed so far in my Etsy Shop - I am doing things little differently - everything to USA Addresses go Priority Mail now - using the USPS Padded Flat Rate Envelopes I can fit a lot in!! But I am working on more - 5 of those 8 are Decor - and I have more Decor to list on Etsy.

Well - I'll be in here some!

All have a great holiday weekend!

Re: Welcome New and Old Members

Good Memorial day all!

Welcome back Ruth;looking forward to your participation in our forum thread.

Julie, I can so understand the need for more time to recuperate. The day of the wedding shower, I was on my feet or sitting for 4 hours and the back and thighs are just today feeling a bit better today! It's going to be 82, so maybe some pool time would help.
Congrats on the sale!

We've had company ;DIL's family since Friday--2 wee girls in the bunch. I haven't heard that sort of clamoring noise since can't remember when!!
They are all leaving today!--Bless their hearts~~~Sigh~~

Tim, you fellas don't waste time getting those lines into the water!! Have bunches of fun. Stay away from the bears and poison ivy!!

I think today we're eating left overs and hanging by the pool.

You all enjoy the day!

Waves happily at Ruth!! I do see you on FB but nice to see you here!

I got all my spraying done this morning. 37 gallons of Round Up(well, actually a generic form) The pull behind sprayer worked great. DH got it fixed and no leaks. I was a weed killing machine!! ;-)

Now, I'm heading to the studio. I'm so behind. I've got a new gallery/gift shop that wants my stuff so I'm sorting and packing and labeling some things.

Klaire, rest up and enjoy the pool. I agree, sitting is almost as hard to do as standing.

Waves to all and have a great day!

Good Morning everyone!

I hope everyone's holiday was very pleasant.

Julie, a 'weed killing machine', wow! Bet you're glad that's done!

Just cleaning up after the holiday, and I may get the energy up enough to wash the silk worm residue out of the new scarves. I might, I said.--:-)

You all have a goodly day!--:-)

Re: Welcome New and Old Members

Klaire - Sounds like you had a busy weekend with the shower. Also sounds like it went really well.

I planned to sew most of the weekend and head to a friend's house in Malibu on Monday. Unfortunately there was that incident is Isla Vista. Dale was in the middle of it. I don't know all the details and I am not certain I want to. Normally he processes these things easily (maybe not the right word) but not this time. While we are no longer seeing each other, we are friends and he needed a friend. Didn't really do anything. We talked and watched tv and Copper sat next to him. He can be a very calm dog. Just what you need.

On a completely opposite note, I sold a u-shaped neck wrap to a sports and therapy massage place in NY State.

Sprinkling sales dust!

Waving back, Julie! Love seeing your Pottery on Facebook! Sounds like you are busy in the garden!

I have my little container garden out front - and I am busy growing Herbs and some Flowers - growing some things from heirloom seeds I got. I love the Flowers - but I use the fresh Herbs in my cooking!!

Just listed a Brand New Decor item in my Etsy Shop - functional Hand-Crochet:

Good morning!

Annie, that was awful out there in Cali! I'm sure Copper was a big help to calm the nerves.

Klaire, did you get rested up? How's the pool?

Ruth, an herb garden is something I've never had luck with. I do have a rosemary plant that has lasted for a few years. I should probably try containers. Our soil is mostly red clay.

Jan, how are things out there? And Tim, caught all the fish yet? Susan, we miss you!

A little dust from last night:•:*¨¨*:•:,¸¸,:•:*¨¨*:•:,¸¸,.•*

Good morning!

Annie, that sort of violence is incomprehensible---any violence is.
But glad to see you creating, and selling--the word will get around about your therapeutic creations and your sales will go through the ceiling!!
Congrats!

Ruth, your pot holders look great! And growing herbs is something I'd like to get into!

Julie, never got in the pool;water too cold for me so was the outside air!
Congrats on your sale too!
BTW, love my spoon holder--:-)

Tim, did you catch the big mouth bass yet?

Miss you Jan and Susan--:-(

Waves to all!

Re: Welcome New and Old Members

Morning.

Ruth, welcome back. I know I always enjoyed your designs. I read about your custom order for that home. It takes a very talented designer to be able to do that!

Jan - thinking of you and sending good vibes your way.

We are going to try get a garden going here. it is never too late to plant here either. First we need to get some fencing so the dogs don't get into it. Copper would probably eat whatever we grew. He loves veggies and that is normally what he gets for treats. I even add raw broccoli slaw to his dinner. No ill effects from it either.

Re: Welcome New and Old Members

Up late doing things online - will sleep in this morning, LOL!

Got a Treasury done on the IDS website "The Feel of Summer"
http://www.interiordesignstyle.net/treasuryDetails.php?ti=1

Well, I have had Herbs in pots for years now. I also have a Rosemary I've had for a couple years now - the old one didn't do well when I moved in 2012. I've just had success starting a plant from Heirloom seeds I bought - of course, it will be in a pot. I don't go digging around in the ground any more, but I love having Flowers and Herbs in Pots!

Well, I love getting creative with Crocheting and Knitting now. Working on a different Custom Order, but it is just from patterns I have that the Customer liked - though they wanted them in certain colors.

A Dog that likes veggies!!! I do believe I've known others that do, too! But she didn't eat my Herbs out of the pots, LOL!

Time to finish up - just wanted to make a note about the Treasury on IDS - you should all take a look and Vote!!! Get some Interaction going on over there!

Good morning!

Boy, the week seems to fly by when the first day of that week is a holiday!

Hi Annie. Think it's great that Copper loves veggies. Makes them a healthier dog!

Ruth, thank you for creating that wonderful treasury! Your link here worked like a charm. The one in the email, as I stated in our convo however, did not work for me!
You will have to take photos of those potted herbs, so we can see how pretty!~

Jan and Susan we're are thinking of you two!

Waves to all. Have a very good day!

Good morning!

Ruth, thank you for the inclusion in your treasury. My emailed link didn't work either but I found it.

I cut grass for hours yesterday so I'm moving slowly today. But I have a trip to a new gallery to do today. Lunch with my DD first.

It's hot with expected t-storms later today and tomorrow.

Have a good one and waves to everyone!!

I'm holding together. I don't want to depress the list! I know better days will come. Most are okay. Thank you, everyone. I'm going to try going out to the studio in the mornings, at least.

Julie, I need you on my payroll for killing weeds! ;-) I chip away at it. Of course it turns out to be a great year for growing them! But - better to have some rain and sun than hot, dry and dusty.

Re: Welcome New and Old Members

Good Friday morning!

A bit overcast today but no rain expected till maybe Saturday, maybe Monday.

I had the 'bug guy' come over yesterday, to spray for spiders, and bees or hornets that are buzzing around the overhang of the house looking for a place to build a nest. I wanted a few dry days, so rain would not wash away the affects of the spray! I think we're going to be OK.

Julie, a new place to display and sell your pottery;how great is that!

Jan we're always here to listen. Attack those weeds like you'd eat an elephant;1 spoonful at a time!! Well, you know what I mean--:-)

Waves to all;have a good day!

Re: Welcome New and Old Members

I can't believe it's been warmer in Canada than home near Chicago. No rain all week. Very unusual to fish all week and not have to put on the rain gear. Fantastic weather. Too bad the fish seem to prefer cold rainy days. We're catching them , but not in the numbers we are used to, up here.

I'll be back in the STUDIO Sunday.

Good afternoon! I just came in from more grass cutting. But I think I'm caught up now.

Klaire, the new gallery is really nice and they were very excited to have my things. Nice people, too. I hope it will pan out. I lost another gallery in the mountains that is closing so this will replace it as far as the number of places I'm in.

Have a safe trip home, Tim!

Yes, Jan, we will be here for you! :-)

Hey, Tim good the weather has been nice to you fellas. You're relaxing, enjoying and that's what's important! Have a safe trip home!

How many acres do you mow Julie? Yes, hope the new gallery works for you!

Another nice day here!

Have a good weekend all!

Re: Welcome New and Old Members

Save me from the house work! As if mowing things down yesterday wasn't enough, the vacuum and mop found their way into my hands today.

Klaire, I don't know what the acreage would actually be. 2 big yards, here at the house and at the shop) and quarter mile of road frontage. A lot of grass. But with our new zero turn mower, it goes quicker and is way more comfortable. We got the extra suspension seat and it makes a huge difference in the back and neck pain afterward. Almost none.

It's muggy and hot today. That's why the housework called to me. I didn't want to go walk so I just walked the house!

I've yet to be in any of the tests but wondering if ya'll were seeing shipping prices and banners and whatever else might be missing with these tests? The forums are still a buzz with complaints.

Well, I had a sale today so here's some dust!¸.•'´¯)¸.•'´¯)¸.•'´¯)¸.•'´¯)¸.•'´¯)¸.•'´¯)

Have a nice evening and catch you in the AM!

Re: Welcome New and Old Members

I was in several of the different front page tests and the shipping test. I only received one convo on the shipping price. The changes have very little effect on my shop. Well if you read the forums you know all the problems other sellers have reported. I don't know how much of it is true and how much is hype. Sometimes I think mass hysteria runs loose in the forums.

In one of my other teams, one seller's DH designs apps for his company. Before he used to design the app for the PC and then mobile; now it is the other way around. Etsy is trying to get ahead on our shops working better for buying on phones and tablets. She has deleted her banner and no featured items. She does want to keep the annoucement.

Jan - I know that you don't want to depress us and that really isn't the issue. We care about you and we respect your privacy. We all think about you and send hugs, healing thoughts and anything else we can do. If there is something any of us can do, please let us know and that includes venting.

I caught the gardening bug. I bought pumpkin, cucumbers, orange and yellow bell peppers, spinach, beans and pea plants. Not a lot of each since there are only two of us. I think we might also add watermelon and cantaloupe. We have lots of space so we might as well grow some fruits and veggies.

Re: Welcome New and Old Members

Nice to hear from all of you!

Julie - nice that you have a new Gallery to show your Pottery!

Jan - hope what ever it is - is better!

Tim - sound like a nice vacation - warmer in Canada than Chicago, huh? But I have a friend in Evanston who just a few weeks ago was mentioning ice still on Lake Michigan. I grew up on the North side of Chicago - and I do not miss the weather there, LOL - whether cooler, windy, humid or hot!

Still gradually putting things in my Etsy Shop - got 2 new Decor items up - I'm up to 11, LOL! I have a few more things to get the photos together on and list - then time to make more!!! I have some "almost finished" projects that it won't take long to finish, then photograph and list, but I have a Custom Order to work on, too - a large one again (Decor)!

Annie - quite a gardening bug! You are doing much more than me, but then you say you have lots of space! Good to grow your own - will probably be healthier than anything in stores. My little container garden serves me well - I use Fresh Herbs from it regularly - and my little Tomato plant has blooms, so it looks like I will get some cherry tomatoes!

Re: Welcome New and Old Members

One day to recover and I'm back in the STUDIO. Lots of orders came in while I was out having fun, now I need to "pay the piper".

I guess spring is over and summer is here. Near 90 and humid yesterday. Oh well, not too long ago we were freezing and dealing with record snows around my neck of the woods. I guess the only way to avoid the crazy weather swings is move to Hawaii. Sounds good to me! Till then I'll just hide out in the A/C.

Yep, Canada was warmer most afternoons, highs near 90, but crazy because there was still pockets of ice on the water and snow in the woods. The resort we stay at canceled all guests the previous week because of the ice. If we ran the boats across the main lake we put on warm jackets and wore gloves, but as soon as we got to the bays and smaller connected lakes to fish we would end up in tee shirts, only to bundle back up for the ride home. Much cooler when out on the big water. Sometimes the temps would change more than 20 degrees just by coming into the bay our resort is located at.

Good morning! I'm up early. The vet is coming this morning for annual shots for the horse and the shop dog. I need to get some coffee before I head to the barn.

Ruth, good that you're getting the shop up and going again.

Annie, watch out for the pumpkin vines. They will take over!

Jan, you're in our thoughts.

Waves to Klaire and Tim, Susan, too. Anybody else out there?

Good Monday morning!

Annie, I had changes on my shop page , too,for a week. Then the other day when I tuned in, I saw my banner was back and everything was as it had been before the 'change'---so I really don't know what they are doing. I just go along with the flow of the river--:-)

Tim, you're back and up to your earlobes in orders. Busy you will be,but great for you! That;s weird regarding the temp difference on the same lake!!
Did you catch anything worth eating?

Annie, your garden sounds delightful!

Waves to all! Have a good day!
