Oh I gave them my opinion, not to worry.
Problem is, judging from past experience with the powers that be, our opinions don't count for much.

Good morning, all! It's one more nice, cool day here. Warming up on Monday. But today I can do some outside work in pleasant conditions, so I better get out there and do it! Yes, I need to learn to use all these sprayers. At least for now. I haven't even ever mixed up that stuff before now. It's good to be busy though. Oh, and learn new things. Right.

Re: Welcome New and Old Members

I'll be heading to NC to see my sister in the AM. I'll be gone 4 days. Ya'll stay out of trouble while I'm gone! I'll have my computer but will probably not have time to visit here. I just want to be able to check in on my shop.

Jan, enjoy the cool day outside. It's down right chilly here today. I had to break out the jeans again. Meh!

Klaire, maybe you'll get the pool open before July 4th!!

Waves to all and have a great weekend!!

Re: Welcome New and Old Members

Where was everybody yesterday?

Busy enjoying the day I hope.

I know I was busy. Still getting things ready for the Canada trip. Only 4 days left!

Sold 4 more rings yesterday and put up reserved listings for 3 more. I guess my 10% off sale is working, Maybe too well. I've got 12 going in the shop right now. Most will go out before I leave.

Had the grandson over yesterday to do some yard work and gutter cleaning. Nice to have the help, but he still needs a lot of supervision. Sometimes so much I wonder if I would be better off doing the work myself.

Best news is my 2 daughters are driving up today, to collect my son from Minneapolis. He is done with school for the summer and will be joining the group going to Canada. With no better job offer for the summer, I think he is going to be home for the summer to work with me. YAY!

Going to be a VERY busy week around here.

Re: Welcome New and Old Members

Good Monday morning!

Tim, congrats on those sales--did you ever dream the rings would be such a hit!

Have fun Julie--and you have a safe fun time!!

Jan, get yourself some of those respiratory face masks when mixing and using that weed killer, or bug killer, too. I remember when I was opening a spray tank to add more, and the pressure released a blast of mist when I popped the top. I read the directions after this incident and it warned not to inhale any emitted mists--sigh--no wonder I have all the unexplained stuff going on inside me.

Annie,Susan let us know how you all are doing.

Have a good day!

Re: Welcome New and Old Members

That's good advice, Klaire. We don't always get a second chance. I'll be careful. I do have masks - used to use them when ripping furniture. The thing that affected me the most then was dried up latex on the back of old cheap fabrics and dried-to-dust old type foam. I could really count on a headache the next day if I forgot my mask. And dust in general affects me, but not as bad as that stuff did. I have the fancy filter type masks too but they're sure no fun to wear! The bigger sprayer was no big deal. I'm set for the next good day use it. That stuff scares me, big time.

Re: Welcome New and Old Members

Good morning!
Gals, I'll let you in a little secret I learned last year about weed killers. Make your own, safer and way cheaper and just as effective. Mix one gal of vinegar, one cup of salt and one tablespoon of dish washing soap. Done. Spray it wherever you want no growth. Make sure you get all the leaves wet. I use it on my brick driveway and walks. The only thing is you should apply it on a sunny day when the growth is dry and will stay that way for a few hours. It kills everything, so don't spray it on any plants you want to stay living. It seems to last a long time too, not too much regrows.

I got my son home about 1 am this morning. YAY! Reinforcements!

3 more days of getting things together for the fishing trip and finishing up as many of the rings as possible,

Re: Welcome New and Old Members

I'll try that, Tim. I don't know why I didn't think of such a thing before. I do pour out my hot vinegar on weeds, things like that. Never thought to find a recipe that was harmless to ME. Thanks. I'll mix some in that smaller spray jug that is empty now.

Re: Welcome New and Old Members

Morning.

I never thought to mention that I use vinegar as weed killer. It works well and no problem with the dogs either.

Have a good one.

Heyy!!

I'm home again, home again! Fun trip!

2 orders while I was away and I have my kiln to unload. Then the farm work. DH got the sprayer fixed so I'll be ready to go at it next calm day. No wind calm, not me calm, LOL.

Klaire, that will be a big deal at your house. The shower and the pool. I hope your pool warms up quickly for you.

Waves to all and catch you in the AM....

Re: Welcome New and Old Members

ONE MORE DAY!

Packing is almost done. I hope I've got everything.

I'm feeling torn. I put my shop on sale last week for my annual "gone fishing" sale.
I've done this every year and usually come home to sales. It was easy to pack and ship a bunch of orders from things I already had in stock. This year is the first year the rings are fully listed and doing well. The rings are not like all the rest of my listings. 99% of them need to be custom made.
So my "problem" is, the sale is working too well. I've got 16 rings "in process". 6 , maybe 8, will be ready to ship out by tomorrow morning. So I'm leaving with 10 rings to work on and will be gone 10 days. During those 10 days I expect to sell even more rings. when I get home from Canada it usually takes me a few days to get back into the swing of things.
So then my "problem" will be a huge backlog of orders that will need to be filled. I really do not like letting my customers wait. I always put myself in their place and know once I order something, i can't wait to get it.

I will have to analyze everything before I run this sale next year to decide if I should just put the shops on vacation mode, which I also do not like.

Hmmmmm. What to do.

Oh, Tim, what a world, what a world```But congrats on all those sales! Maybe an apprentice is required? Have good fun on your fishing trip!

Still making ready for the wedding shower.

All have a good day!

Re: Welcome New and Old Members

Good morning!

Tim, as long as your customers are aware of the delay it should be OK? And then you'll be a busy bee when you get back. That's a good "problem" to have!

Klaire, will the house be all decorated for the shower? We did pretty crepe paper streamers and balloons and ribbon when we had a wedding shower here a few years ago. Of course, flowers, too. It was a lot of work! Don't wear yourself out.

I got the kiln unloaded this morning and had good stuff. I'll have to take pictures later.

I'm heading to the PO and grocery store to stock up the house again. DH ate all the food I left him so now I have cook something new!

Waves to all and have a great day!

Re: Welcome New and Old Members

Good Friday morning!

Julie, my son and DIL are holding the shower at a hotel ballroom;same place where the W reception will take place.
I remember back in the days of 'when'--we held showers in someones living room, or back yard if the weather was nice--but that was back in the days of ''when'--:-)

Tim, you must be driving on your way to your fishing place! Have a great time.

Jan, how's that vinegar weed killing going?

Annie, Calif is finally;y getting rain!!

Waves to all. Have a good day and nice weekend!

Remember our service men and woman!

Re: Welcome New and Old Members

I wish I was on the road right now.
This is the worst part of the trip. Pulling everything together, praying you do not forget some crucial item and packing the van.

To make matters worse, I'm impatiently waiting for the final coats of finish to cure on two rings I want to ship out before I leave.

5 more hours and I can start collecting the other 3 guys & their gear and actually git outta town!

I'm supposed to have WiFi at the cabin we are staying at. If we do you just may hear from me, if not, keep a light burning so I can find my way back here!

We will be honoring our service men and women. We always remember.

Re: Welcome New and Old Members

Good morning!

Oh, OK, Klaire! I thought you were having the shower at the house. Good to let someone else handle it. We've had several "events" here at the house. A wedding shower, baby shower, and of course the wedding last year. This is for friends and family so a labor of love but still a lot of work. Every time I say that's the last one.

Tim, fishing and wifi, awesome! Have a great time!!

We'll be hanging out at the house this weekend. I'm still tired from my trip. I have some steaks to put on the grill at some point. I keep our service men in my heart always. IDK when Memorial Day became a summer holiday.

Jan and Susan, hope you are doing OK. Let us hear from you.

Waves to all and have a great day!!

Re: Welcome New and Old Members

It was a yard work day. I am surprised at how much I got done. I just put myself in gear and went full steam. I got weed eating done and DH did the mowing. See? He's reluctant for me to learn how much fun it is. ;-)

It hasn't been good spray conditions. I haven't mixed up any vinegar stuff yet. And I will probably use the awful stuff first, as it's ready to use and wouldn't want it sitting around anyway........

Hangin' in and hangin' on. It's a very strange reality here right now.

I'll say also: Susan, how are you?
