Whether you just joined or have been an etsian or part of the team for a while, let us know who you are, what you make, what inspires you.

Re: Introduce yourself.

I'm Katerina and my partner is Tracy. Our main shop focuses on Viking era inspired jewelry and tools. I was making Viking knit bracelets and wanted to have an easier way to set up. So Tracy invented our wire guides. So we put both for sale in our shop. I'm in the process of weeding out non-historical items and putting those in a separate shop.

I'd like to create more historically accurate items from that era and region of earth. I used to have books, but lost them all when I left Louisiana a few years ago. Now I just mostly have a few digital pamphlets, so I just work with what I have.

Anyways, glad I can be a part of this team. Hopefully I'll learn more and apply it to my creations.

Re: Introduce yourself.

Hi Everyone! I'm Taylor, and I run two ETsy Shops, Dames a la Mode (damesalamode.etsy.com) and The Historical Bride. My main shop. Dames a la mode, specializes in reproduction Georgian jewelry for reenactors and costumers, as well as historically-accurate millinery supplies like ribbons and paper flowers. I occasionally will sell historical headwear as well. My Historical Bride shop is an offshoot of my main shop, where I focus on Georgian-inspired wedding jewelry.

First and foremost, I'm a reenactor, so accuracy is really important to me. Glad to have found this group!

Taylor

Re: Introduce yourself.

Hi - I'm Terry and I've been selling on Etsy since 2010. I specialize in original Victorian era jewelry, which is my passion. I've been studying the American Civil War since I was a child, and have been involved in the living history hobby for 25 years. I believe each piece of jewelry tells a story and I try to relate that story to my customers with every listing. The learning process never ends, so I'm happy to be a part of this team.

Re: Introduce yourself.

Hi, I'm Susan and have had my Etsy shop for about a year now. I stay home with my one year old and do historic preservation consulting on the side. My degrees are in architecture and history, so that works perfectly! Research is a passion of mine, and I always have several projects going. Right now, I've finally had time to start research for an article I plan to write about a mid-century neighborhood developer in Charlotte, NC. I also blog about the history behind postcards both in my shop and my personal collection (http://postcardigans.weebly.com/blog). I'm so glad to have found a group on Etsy that values history as much as I do!

Re: Introduce yourself.

Hi all,

I studied art history in college and I currently work in a museum slide library. I love Japanese and African art, and I make jewelry that I view as fusion of aesthetics from these cultures. I’ve recently been really interested in talismans and mirror magic but I am really hesitant to start making anything inspired by this because I am really concerned about issues of appropriation -- so that’s something I’m currently mulling over. I’m trying to blog through it at https://autonomousthread.wordpress.com/ (but I’m horribly inconsistent)

Best,
Gloria

I'm Courtney. I use the ancient practice of "eco dyeing" in my practice. Until around 160 years ago this process was used everywhere in the world and now it is a lost art. I use plants, vegetables and flowers to permanently dye fabric. Check out my shop and instagram @sleepinggianttextiles

Re: Introduce yourself.

Hi,
I am Harmke Paulides, I live in the north of Holland. I opened an Etsy shop in december 2014, so I'm just starting up.
My shop is named ROUTE123 and I am inspired by maps. That can be all sorts of maps, from modern maps to historical maps and from items made with maps to illustrations often used on maps? Especially the illustrations on historical maps intrigue me, those illustrations can be very rich in detail and often they are meaningfull figures (symbols) for the region the map is about.

You can check-out my shop here: https://www.etsy.com/nl/shop/Route123?ref=l2-shopheader-name

And one of my listings: https://www.etsy.com/nl/listing/221168642/ansicht-historisch-amsterdam-1625-03?ref=shop_home_active_...

Greetings to all of you,
Harmke Paulides

Re: Introduce yourself.

Hello! I am Jan, and I opened my shop "AvocadoStoneFaces" just over a month ago. I carve avocado stones (seeds/pits) and create unique and unusual pendants, figurines and buttons from them.

I use 100% natural materials in my products. I love to recycle things, and to use materials that are around me.

Many of my carvings have been inspired by ancient artefacts - it makes me feel in touch with the humans who first created the pieces.

I am happiest in Summer, when surrounded by nature.

Re: Introduce yourself.

Hello. It looks like this team has been around for awhile. I'm very pleased to have found you thanks to a friend on another team. I'm a photographer selling my work here on Etsy for...well, it's been four years this month.

I'm interested in history in general, historical novels, vintage textiles, clothing and, using my cameras to photograph it, historic architecture. It's a bit of an obsession, so I dedicated an entire shop section to Architectural Art. I think the extraordinary carved detail on older buildings is exquisite -- sometimes magical. Wherever I see it, I wonder about the trained craftsperson who created it and how they learned their craft and where they travelled the world to exercise it.

I'm happy to be here and look forward to chatting with all of you and discovering your shops. Best, E.

Re: Introduce yourself.

Hello, all.

I'm Vaughn and I'm a blacksmith. I spend my time forging iron, shaping it however I can, and draw my inspiration from the past. If I'm not in the shop, I'm in front of the computer searching for new ideas or simply marveling at the things past masters were able to create.

I've been blacksmithing off and on for more than twenty years, but only just moved into doing it for a living and offering wares here on etsy. If you have an idea in mind, I'm always glad to help however I can. If you see something on my shop page but would like something slightly different, don't hesitate to ask.

Re: Introduce yourself.

Hi everyone :) I am Marta and I am new to Etsy, I opened my shop just about two weeks ago...
I sell jewelry inspired by historical jewelry pieces and by fantasy/nature (and I think I will stick to these two themes), as well as some more "gothic" goodies, as I used to love this style and still have some supplies to use.
Anyways, I plan to keep on making the royal/aristocratic looking jewelry and stick to my more elaborated and rich designs.
I am also a historical reenactor (XIII and XIV century and the Napoleonic era), as well as a horseback archer, so I'm in love with historical styles and outfits in general :)

Feel free to check out my (obviously still growing) shop: https://www.etsy.com/shop/Artefaktorium

Hello,

I'm Chris. I started designing history inspired t-shirts 6 years ago after being inspired by the podcast Stuff You Missed In History Class. I've branched out beyond that, but the history ones are still my favourite. :-)

You can find the history ones here - www.etsy.com/ca/shop/Yesteeyear?section_id=17218907

Re: Introduce yourself.

Hi everyone!
I'm Flavia from Naturæ Cor (even if Etsy doesn't let me use the proper letters :P ). I live near Naples, Italy, in an area where history is part of our landscape and daily life, and this is refected in my art too as I drew inspiration from my land and its (hi)stories. I'm actually a Cultural Heritage student, so this passion is in my bones and veins :)
Ancient civilizations, Middle Age, Renaissance, Victorian era and Belle Epoque are absolutely my favourites and source of inspiration when I made my jewels.
It's a pleasure to be part of this group :)
