Hi Tracy !! Thanks for letting me know. I thought I might be missing something. I can't list my sterling silver pendants or cuffs yet .... because it costs more to send those... plus I like to buy insurance with those because they cost more. So I hope they work on getting more shipping options soon.
What is the responsive theme? I saw a thread about that ..... but wasn't really sure what that is.
Thanks for the compliment on my site! I played around for quite awhile with different fonts, templates, etc ........
I checked out your site. It looks great!!!!!!!!! I love your birds!!!!!! I'm a bird lover!!
Now if I can only get some traffic going to it. I hardly get any views on there. (it's only been up for one month.......so maybe I need to be more patient).
Thank-you! The birds (and kayaks) are my favorite things to make :)
I understand about different shipping costs. I'm in the same boat. For now, I'm limiting sales to the US and assigning shipping individually to each listing. Once we get shipping profiles (hopefully soon!), then I'll be able to do international shipping. That will be wonderful.
Responsive themes are those that are formatted to show up well on iPhones and tablets. I'm sticking with my format for now since it looks good (to me anyway) on those two devices.
I am getting a decent amount of views, and it seems to be steadily increasing. Getting views will take a little time, but the most important thing is your SEO. Be sure to fill that out for everything on your site. Just use what you've learned about SEO on Etsy, and apply it on your site. The higher you rank in Google search, the more views you are likely to receive. Also, try to post to a blog every couple of weeks. Adding and updating text on your site will also help with search engine ranking. Informational text will bring people to your site, too. I put whatever I feel like sharing in my blog, and they are totally unrelated topics, but they do generate traffic.
Hi again Tracy!! I'm doing the same thing as you........limiting my shipping to within the US only.
Thanks for the tips .... and explaining about the responsive theme! Well, maybe I'm not getting any views because I haven't been filling out any of the keywords or SEO stuff ........ since I read that they will fill it in for you with the "default".
So should I be filling out my own keywords for every item that I'm listing? Yikes....if that is the case......I have some work to do.
I do, and what I'm filling out is what's showing up in Google search, so even though it would be a bit time-consuming, I think it's worth the effort for search engine ranking. I fill in the key words, too, although I don't think that is as important as the listing title and text.
It couldn't hurt to do it for your shop main page, etc. Instead of doing it all at once, maybe just do a few things a day.
Good advice. I did already do it for my shop's main page .... but not each item. I just finished listing a new item .....and filled in all the SEO sections. I will go back and do that for each item - since you said that is what is showing in Google searches. Thanks for the tips!!
Wow, you all have some really lovely sites! I'm still working on my photos and making my newsletter page look better, as well as replacing the slideshow on the first page, but I LOVE indiemade. And the customer service has been so excellent!
