Tagging & Description Help!

This thread is for our neglected items, the ones we love & don't understand why people ignore them. I think that often we list our items in ways that may make it less marketable.

Tagging is so important, it is one of the biggest ways people find our products. Georgina of Nevermore Dolls mentioned that she always tags her items with her own shop name. Since I've done this, I've noticed more traffic to my shop. I think it is a good idea for everyone!

But beyond that, sometimes we struggle with finding the right tags or descriptions. With the wrong choices, we sell ourselves short (actually, we won't sell ourselves at all!).

So I think we should use this thread to highlight the items that aren't popular in order to help each other improve our sales.

Please post no more than three items at a time, so that we don't get overwhelmed when we're looking at the items. After other people have been given a chance to get their items analyzed, you're welcome to post more items.

Also, please help your fellow Etsians! If you've posted items, don't just forget about this thread; comment for other people!

What did you tag the bangle and ring with? I would try "tentacle" and "optical illusion" on the bangle, both seem to have a sizable market. For the ring I would go with "Hindu jewelry" "meditation ring" and "india".

I'm not sure about the dolls, sorry.

Also, how do you make posts with pictures of your products?

Karl - copy and paste the link to the item you want to post. The picture will show up after you hit "post a reply."

Emily - I'm not sure if this is accurate or not, but I've heard that tags with multiple words help with SEO. It seems to me that since you have both "bracelet" and "psychedelic" it would then put the two together if someone searches for a "psychedelic bracelet" but maybe it puts you up higher in the search results if you were to add bracelet or jewelry to some of the tag descriptions. It certainly wouldn't hurt anyway.

Also I think that a lot of people search "style" keywords on etsy, so maybe adding "hippie" or "bohemian" to the bracelet and and "Zen" and "Hippie" to the ring. I'd also think about maybe taking out "pattern" from the bracelet because I don't think that would be a common keyword someone would search.

This is a product I thought would do better than it has so far. My original postin for it was quite complicate and I've made it simpler to what it is now. I'm still not sure what I'm doing wrong.

I like the simple description, Karl.
Some tagging options I'd explore:
camping gear
wilderness gear
backwoods
explosiventuretc <-- this is helpful for when people just type your name into the search bar, it guarantees products will come up.

Thank you Emily. I changed some tags to add the ones you mentioned and already have two views from camping gear. I'm going to start tagging all my stuff with explosiventuretc also, that's a good idea.
