Oh - and your website is wonderful! So clearly laid out and easy to navigate (sorry, I'm a library & information science grad student - this is my life! ha)

@AnnaSkates

Your website is not horrible. I love your Logo and your work. Just added your shop to my favorites!

Love the bird card!

And thank you, I wanted the website simple.

Re: Websites Anyone?

I actually thought more Etsy sellers would have websites. In my case, I had my website first, then I decided to sell on Etsy. But I really do NOT do well here at all, I do much better with my main site. I think what happens in my case is people who find my shop on Etsy search to see if I have a main site and order from there, because I get tons of referrals from etsy. All of my large wholesale accounts found me on Etsy then went to my main site.

I really cannot think of any cons regarding my website. I love it, I consider it an extension of me and the business that I have worked hard to establish.

But, I don't think one has to have a website as well as an Etsy shop.

My website was designed by this designer: http://www.augustafternoon.com/

But, I now work with this designer: http://jilllynndesign.com/

They will both give you a custom quote according to your needs.

My Host is a green powered host called Sustainable websites, which is awesome. Great customer service!
http://www.sustainablewebsites.com/ I pay 10.00 a month! great price I think.

There are so many awesome Boutique web designers out there! Another one that I considered was Red Peach designs their pricing starts at 2,450 for e commerce site. http://www.redpeachdesigns.com/

Good luck! Can't wait to see your site.

@RockZaia

When I am terrified of something I know I have to do it. Weird Huh?

I think having your own website is such an exciting step for a business. This is something that comes from you and your company vision.

Here is one of my favorite saying " The thrill of soaring beings with the fear of falling"

I say go for it, you will be so amazed. If you have any other questions convo me!

Re: Websites Anyone?

RockZaia & Teener-

I have so much fun with my website. Again, I'm bad about updating it, but it was a lot of fun to make. I used wix.com which is a Flash Based Website Builder (when I was looking for tools to build my site, I was looking specifically for flash). It's really easy to use, they have a TON of templates to choose from and it's FREE!

My web host is Network Solutions. They partner with Wix to provide domain names and services. I started out with a GREAT deal through Wix's website for Network Solutions which was a free domain name and one year's service for $99! My services were getting ready to expire and I just renewed: SIX years for $149!!!!! So, my website has a spot in the virtual world for the next six years for uh...not a lot of money in the grand scheme of things!

Honestly - I don't know that my website does me much good. I don't have it set up to where people can purchase directly from there - just because I do a lot of custom work and Etsy just makes it a bit easier because people can convo me about custom orders (and it costs money to set up a site like a marketplace). I've gotten a few emails that were sent using the "contact" tool on my website, which is awesome - but only one has been an actual order. For me - it was my first step into the world of making cards for money (and for fun!). I started with that, and then decided to create my Etsy shop, since potential customers had no way to purchase cards from me on my website. Etsy has been great for me! (Though it was slow going at the beginning)

I feel like I've rambled on for forever....hope that's helpful, though. Just do it!!!! :) It'll be fun! And definitely has potential to generate more business.
