Marketing?

Hi everyone! I'm new to this team! My name is Maria and I've been sewing and baking for about 18 years now... since I was 6!

Cinnamons is a new shop for me... I have a bunch of feedback in my old shop http://UniqueRM.etsy.com. Photos: http://bluemelon.com/cinnamons

I know I don't put enough time or money into marketing as I should... does anyone have any advice on the best marketing and exposure for sewers or bakers? I've tried craft shows but they seem like a LOT of work for barely a payoff in my area. The goal is to take my business full time some day, so I figure I need to ante up and start marketing myself! :)

Thanks!
Maria

Re: Marketing?

do you have business cards? overnightprints.com normally has 500 cards for free just pay shipping. I bring them with me everywhere.. and sometimes leave chunks in coffee shops etc.

also just hand them out to friends who can spread the word about you too!

Re: Marketing?

I had some simple cards created with my logo and website on them as I didn't have time to design a card and needed something with my site for a craft show. I purchased 500 glossy nice cards from another Etsy seller for only $20 so I'll definitely be going back to them when I re-do my cards!

I want to advertise more online but I'm not sure where the most effective sites are? I've heard Facebook has good advertising (the kind you pay for).

Re: Marketing?

How much are the advertisements on facebook? I tweet sometimes but i dknt think it's very effective. I use fb page to simply get my name out there and connect with ppl. Heartsy is also a good way to promote if you do get accepted. Etsylush showcases your work and directs customers back to ur etsy listing. I'm in the process of creatin my own website (finger crossed).

Re: Marketing?

I recently started putting all of my listing pages on stumbleupon, kaboodle, and digg. I've gotten a bunch of views from stumbleupon each time. It only takes a couple of minutes- and you can put as many tags as you would like!

Re: Marketing?

picksomeflowers,
i know it's 10 cents per unique viewer. But is there a large amt. of sales compared to views? i might try stumbleupon, but im afraid it's too expensive.

Re: Marketing?

I am confused. I don't pay anything. I just add the page to my favorites, add tags and a few words about it, and go on my way.
