Sellers taking forever

I've purchased several heartsy vouchers. Some are very quick about it, some take forever. For those that take forever I don't mind as long as I get updates along the way! I've been featured a few times between my two shops and every time I've gotten my items out within a week and if not, i've let my buyers know.

What really ticks me off when I'm messaging them every two weeks for an update. A couple of shops have told me i'm shipping on XX day and two weeks pass and I still dont have my item. I message them and they always say, sorry, I shipped your item yesterday.

If you say you will ship XX day and then don't, fine, just LET ME KNOW!!! It really makes me want to leave a negative because I'm the one who has to follow up, rather than the seller letting me know.

Much of the time I want to tell the seller this but I don't know how to say it without sounding extremely bitchy... suggestions?

Re: Sellers taking forever

I think you have to start from the beginning of the transaction with a nice convo about how you as a heartsy seller understand that things can get overwhelming. So, would the seller please give you a realistic date for when they will ship and if they exceed that time to please let you know. That you truly do understand.

and you should be unhappy if a seller told you something was going to ship and 2 weeks later it hasn't. that sucks.

Re: Sellers taking forever

i would think that the sales for some sellers is a bit overwhelming and they sometimes forget to keep on top of communications with the buyers.

I like FD's solution. Best of luck to you and I am off to purchase a soap heartsy deal that I have been drooling over!

Re: Sellers taking forever

I understand how overwhelming it can be to sell on Heartsy. But ultimately, I think you're right Nitelilly. I think it is up to the seller to communicate if orders are taking longer than quoted, and even if they're honestly overwhelmed. It's unfortunate to read about sellers who don't communicate as good customer service goes a long way. And if they forgot you, they should be honest and apologize for it. That is how I would handle it anyway. I'd rather admit to being human and making a mistake than to come off like I don't value my customers.

Re: Sellers taking forever

I agree - it's really nice when a seller lets you know the status of your order especially if it will be an abnormal length of time (heartsy or not). I bought a lot from heartsy sellers at the beginning and even now they often (more often than not) take one to two and even three months!

I agree it can be very frustrating when sellers don't respond or they say they're mailing it "tomorrow" and then two weeks later they say they mailed it "yesterday". I don't mind waiting but please take a minute to let me know.

I know it's overwhelming as I've done two features myself but I really tried to keep my customers in the loop. Here's to hoping some overwhelmed sellers will be reading the forums. Lol!

Re: Sellers taking forever

Most of my items are custom made - When I ran my Heartsy deal I had a welcome Heartsy shoppers ....please note that custom orders may take as long as 2-3 weeks to ship just so the buyers would know. I was able to get most orders out within a week. In the end all the orders came in at the end of my sale in which I lost power for 5 days because of a freak snow storm...

Re: Sellers taking forever

I've found most etsy customers and many heartsy customers to be very understanding as long as you let them know. My features survived through the Canada Post strike and a death in my immediate family. I just kept everyone posted and sent a little extra to thank them for their patience and understanding.

Re: Sellers taking forever

Ebony, the shipping tomorrow and shipped yesterday thing is after I wait the 2-3 weeks when they say it will take to make the item.

Like I said, as long as it's posted how long it will take to make or that there will be a delay I'm fine, just let me know!!

Re: Sellers taking forever

Exactly nitelily! I am a patient person and I always check the sellers announcement so I have a timeframe in mind when placing an order.

I've actually not bought from heartsy in a long time due to waiting much longer (often double the time) than the stated production times in a lot of the shops (and that doesn't include waiting for the item once shipped which can take another month to Canada!) It especially makes it hard to count on ordering items for gifts etc.

Re: Sellers taking forever

I don't know how they do that! Having open orders, knowing that I told them it would ship by a certain time and then not shipping would just stress me out! Plus it's just not right, like you said just be honest with your timeline!

I try to be patient too but sometimes....
The worst I've dealt with was when I bought something from someone who ran their deal at the end of their pregnancy. I bought my voucher and items on the day the deal ran, she had her baby the same week, I had to wait 25 days before it shipped. Another one had her shop on vacation the day after her deal ran. I think some sellers need to really think about timing when they run their deals.

For my deal, even with the 6 day power outage, I was able to get my items in the mail within a week and a half but most went out with in a week, which just made people happier because it arrived sooner than expected :)
