I have a few Heartsy questions

1. Does the coupon include shipping costs or just the cost of the products?

2. Where can I see a chart of how many "yes" "no" and "maybe" answers I got?

3. Does anyone else have a hard time signing in? I keep getting the response of my user name and my password do not match. They have sent three new passwords and I get the same response every time.

Thanks!! If I think of anymore questions, I will post them here.

Re: I have a few Heartsy questions

1. Yes, it covers shipping as well, unfortunately.
2. I don't think they offer a chart showing how many Yes' or no's. But at the end of your 72 hours they will show you in comparison with other stores.
3. I've always just clicked on the 'sign in using facebook' so I've never had to enter my email and password.

Re: I have a few Heartsy questions

hmmm-- you know I didn't even think about shipping until my shop was up for vote. Now, I am not sure I can participate if I do get chosen. I can't afford to do a big discount AND shipping :(

Re: I have a few Heartsy questions

1. Sorta - Depends on pricing, for example, I offered a deal that would cover 1 item with shipping, but that would leave a credit leftover, *or* they would be able to get 2 items, but pay shipping, since I can fit 4-6 items in a flat rate box, the most cost effective method, is to order the 5 pack deal, so I'll have several of those up for grabs during my deal day.

2. under "my deals" in your account tab, you can see voting results

3. Sign in via facebook.

Re: I have a few Heartsy questions

Think of shipping + item(s) = invoice. It the voucher is less than the invoice, then your buyer pays the difference via paypal.

If the voucher is More than the invoice, there is of course nothing left for them to pay, and potentially they have a credit for a future difference of the balance which hopefully brings the customer back to your shop.

Here's two ways to look at it:

Item price $45, shipping $5.....Voucher $35 - buyer pays an addtn'l $15

Item price $20, shipping $5...voucher $35 - you ship and buyer has a credit for $10 for next time.

Important to note, in both of the above situations the net discount becomes far less steep than the original voucher ratio.

Now, if they come in and buy...
Item $30..shipping $5..voucher $35... then you ship with no additional payment, and the buyer has no left over credit.

The important factor is less the percentage offered but the price point of your shop vs. the voucher amount you negotiate.

Re: I have a few Heartsy questions

Thanks, Aerides!

Pisces - I just got it to work, something was wrong and I could not sign in. I got them to send me one more password and it worked - finally- so I got to see the chart - which took me a bit to comprehend :)

I did get 30 yes votes (up to 48 now) and still have a bit longer. I didn't put a link for votes anywhere because I wanted to see if people really did want to give me a yes and not a yes just because I asked for it. I figured that wouldn't help on the sale day if the data was wrong to begin with. Anyway- now I am just going to wait and see what happens next.

Re: I have a few Heartsy questions

How would the customer be able to come back a second time to use the remainder of their coupon? Wouldn't they need a new code made by heartsy?

Re: I have a few Heartsy questions

Remaining balances need to be tracked by the store that ran the deal (that is by us). It's like using a gift card at target if there's $3 left on it, you keep it till your next trip.

Re: I have a few Heartsy questions

Thank you for this info- very useful.
Sounds like the wait time to hear back is very long right now, bummer :(

Re: I have a few Heartsy questions

So they don't use a new code? We basically just write their name down somewhere safe and remember the remaining balance? That's simple enough.

Re: I have a few Heartsy questions

They have one code, worth $X. If they spend $X-5, then next time the same code is still good for the remaining $5 (and yes it's up to you to keep track).

I kept it all in a spreadsheet the day of the event, and used that to calculate invoices for those that went over rather than doing it manually. If you don't have MS Office/Excel, you can do it all for free in Google Docs/Spreadsheet.

Re: I have a few Heartsy questions

Is it a must for credit?
If you use voucher at supermarket, you won't get credit back if you don't use a full amount.

Correct me if I'm wrong?

Re: I have a few Heartsy questions

If I buy a gift card to a retail shop, I have expect to be able to spend the balance if I don't use the whole thing. So that's what i expect with my heartsy customers.

They bought a voucher for X. If they use X-Y on the first transaction, they still have the balance with me.

I'm not a supermarket ;)

My message back to such customers has been that I hope they visit me later and will hold the credit on file. I see that as good business and "treat as you'd like to be treated".

Re: I have a few Heartsy questions

I just got the "waiting list" email. It said they should be in contact within 17 days.

Re: I have a few Heartsy questions

Now that I am waiting, I have been thinking about what kind of deal I should offer. My price points are all over the place and I am finding it difficult to figure out what to do. Also, some of my shipping prices for my heavier items are a little high (but my higher priced items are normally also the heavy ones)

Is there a formula to help you figure things out?

Also, how do you figure out how many deals to offer?

====================

I'd keep a spreadsheet of all voucher #s, payments made, balance over or under etc.

then you can refer to the voucher when you're all done to see who has credits left over.

I think this could be an excellent marketing tool-- in a month or so, send an email to the customers that still have a balance to remind them before it expires.

Ginger, you can set up a spreadsheet to calculate it for you.

I came up with a formula that I think works here: http://www.etsy.com/teams/8380/heartsy-help/discuss/6850168/page/1/

For simplicity, I'm trying to price everything at my shop at similar levels... ie, instead of one key charm costing $15 and one $16 I've set them all up at $15 (and I actually make more with Heartsy with the lower price because I'm not paying PayPal & Etsy fees for the higher price).

If I had any heavy to ship items, I think I'd make sure the voucher is much lower than your price + shipping, or deactivate the heavy listings. I really don't like that we eat shipping on top of the already deep discount!

Re: I have a few Heartsy questions

Thanks, Rune. I wish I could price all of my items about the same - but I have such a wide variety and 150 items. I think if I set my voucher low enough that will keep my heavy items out of the mix since most of my heavy things are my more expensive items. -- of course I have not even been chosen so I am thinking about all of this a little prematurely....but want to be prepared just in case.

Re: I have a few Heartsy questions

If you get selected, you can always deactivate certain items that don't work so well with the voucher. I found some shops has very little inventory to choose form once I purchased my "deal" from heartsy. Still haven't gotten one of the items...
