Silversmith moving from UK to NZ

Hello everyone!

I'm an amateur silversmith, have had some slowly growing success in the uk making silver Jewellery inspired by nature, science and archaeology.

My wife and I are emigrating to NZ in just over a week and I'm already starting some minor thinking to how best to resume my silversmithing in NZ.

I was wondering if anyone had any tips for suppliers of silver, I had a few good options in the UK but obviously I'll be starting from scratch.

I'm quite excited to see how things go, in the past my main customers seemed to be Americans wanting things made in Britain, so I'm curious how the market will change!

That's all for now, looking forward to chatting with you all!

Hi Chris,

Welcome to NZ, exciting new adventure! I do not know much about silversmithing but if you like you can ask Nikki (ZaZing) for some tips.

Hi Chris,

Welcome - and I hope you're settling in ok here. I am not sure on the sources of silver either, but I am wondering if you are looking into creating silver pieces inspired by nature in NZ - e.g huhu grubs, fern - it could encourage your customers to buy things 'made in NZ' instead!
