Hello,
Has anyone received an email about etsy adding GST to 'applicable seller service fees'?
I am not GST register I sell only few bits here and there so don't want to make my tax complicated, looks like if you have a GST ID you don't pay GST on the 'applicable seller service fees' what ever those services are maybe the listing?
"Hi there,
We’re writing to let you know that we’ll be making some changes related to value-added tax (VAT) on Etsy’s seller fees in the coming weeks. These are part of our continued efforts to improve our global marketplace for both sellers and buyers.
What this means for your shop
Beginning March 1, Etsy will begin charging goods and service tax (GST) on applicable seller service fees for sellers in New Zealand.
To ensure our records are correct, please provide us with your GST ID number (or equivalent), if you have one.
If you submit a GST ID before March 28, 2017, you will not be charged GST on seller fees due to your business-to-business relationship with Etsy. You will receive an invoice from Etsy on the first of each month stating that you were not charged GST on your seller fees.
Charges applied during the month of March will be reflected on your April 1 bill. Moving forward, charges applied during the previous month will appear on the bill you receive on the first of the month. You will also receive a monthly invoice on the first of the month with a list of VAT-eligible seller fees and the amount you were charged on those fees during the prior month.
If you sell digital items in your shop, Etsy automatically includes applicable GST in the purchase price and you do not need to collect GST on those items separately. If you’re wondering what this means for how you collect GST in your shop, we encourage you to contact a professional advisor.

Thank you for being a valued member of Etsy’s global community."
