Hi everyone!

I'm sure we can bring this team to life folks!
I'm Jenny and my store is the Cheeky Kea. I make bead woven jewellery and have just started with Etsy. I chose the name Cheeky Kea because of the kea's penchant for taking to anything shiny or sparkly. I live in Taranaki and hope use the internet to get to know lots of other crafty folk and extend my customer base. Come on folks, who are you?

Re: Hi everyone!

Hi People :) I am Anau, I am a Tongan born, bred in NZ, now currently living in Pennsylvania NZ for the next year. It is awesome to see a NZ team on here, and definitely makes me miss home and my family.

I usually paint, but with a 2year old, time is scarce these days because he always wants to play with his mama haha. So, to keep my self busy with being some where I don't know too many people, I do the next thing I can do best > make jewelry, cards, journals, and create things out of the broken.

Nice to meet you Jenny ^^^ :) All the best for your store x

Re: Hi everyone!

Agreed bring it to life - personally I have been ignoring the teams a bit as they all seem to follow the self promotion line, new things, treasuries etc, i think they would be better served having proper discussions on relevent topics to selling how people are doing, tips etc and as for the promoting more of a collaboration of promoting other peoples things on blogs etc.

Re: Hi everyone!

Hi everyone out there
I'm a granny & I'm trying to function in the cyber age, which does not come easily to me. I am a new New Zealand resident and I'm making and selling dresses for girls age 2-6. I want NZ to raise their girls with a sense of self worth and dignity and this starts when girls are very young.Little girls should feel that they look pretty, they should hear that they are pretty, they should feel loved and cared for. Obviously this does not apply to every minute but certainly when they're out with mom or dad. Am I the only one who thinks we can do more to raise self assured women?

Re: Hi everyone!

Hi Everyone,
My names Desiree, a born and bred kiwi trying to make it in Melbourne I work full time and study graphic design part time, last year I got married in Wanaka to my gorgeous kiwi husband, from there I rediscovered my passion for craft and that I had secret love for all things wedding. I only started my shop a couple of months ago as a hobby, but now seeing some of etsy's potential and a market for all things handmade, I'm considering that this could take me a lot further than originally planned. Of course I love all things kiwiana and love seeing that NZ is embracing etsy and all it's goodness, I just can't wait to see the world filled with kiwi art....

Hi I am Julia, originally from sunny Nelson, but moved to shaky Christchurch in August last year. I have always been creative and dabble at most things. Cardmaking and papercrafts are what I started in. But I am now a self taught graphic artist selling digital scrapbooking paper packs. I also work part time and have two children aged 10 and 7.

Re: Hi everyone!

Hello,
My name is Rae. I am Oklahoma born and Texas bred. I opened my shop to help motivate me to finish my projects and give purpose to my vintage hoarding. But it is difficult finding work in NZ so I have been working harder at it. However, moving has been an amazing new start for my crafting and illustrating and it is great that ETSY is gaining popularity here. I am doing a Master's in Art History at Auckland Uni but I am having visa and student aid issues so hopefully I get to finish without being expelled/deported. Very very worried.

Re: Hi everyone!

Hi there,
I am based just north of Auckland and have recently started selling personalised labels for lunch boxes and more after an awesome response from friends and family. I have been using Facebook to get my name out but thought I would give ETSY a go to open my sales up to a more global market.

If you are interested in having a look at what I do you can find Lunchbox Labels on Facebook. I am hoping to get my head around how to use ETSY to my best advantage.
Any tips? How do you find the fees?
I look forward to being part of this team!

Sam :-)

Re: Hi everyone!

Kia Ora Kiwis.

I'm based just north of Sam from lunchboxlabels (hmmm good excuse for a coffee I think, anyone else in?). I've been making things ever since my Nana taught me to sew at age 7, can't stop since. Forward momentum has taken me into photography, pottery, book art, mixed media assemblage and yes I'm still sewing. Addicted to creating. Just now trying to work out how to make some dosh out of it so I can give up my day job (ha ha).

Love Etsy for finding supplies, and fingers crossed there will be a sale for me soon.

Karen :)

p.s. I don't yet have a facebook page but I'm working on it. I

Re: Hi everyone!

Hi all,
Cool to see a New Zealand Etsy team!
I cant imagine how I'd get by without my etsy store. Some friends told me about it 4 years ago and I get a sale most days...

There are a lot of stores here on etsy so it is not easy to be seen. I was in Melbourne a few months ago and met the Aussie etsy rep at a market. She told me there are currently over 800,000 Etsy stores, and the number is growing (as are the number of customers thankfully!)

I found this link...My store is 14th placed Etsy store in NZ!
http://www.craftcount.com/teritory.php?countryname=New%20Zealand

My tips for Etsy success are among many things
*GREAT PRODUCT
*GREAT CUSTOMER COMMUNICATION
*AWESOME PHOTOS
*LEARN HOW TO USE TITLES AND TAGS

Best of luck to every one in the team!

Cheers, Jules

Re: Hi everyone!

Hi
I'm a glass bead maker based in New Plymouth,( what part of the Naki are you Jen?) I've also begun dabbling in silversmith and metal work as well.
Joined etsy back in '08 but have been a bit sporadic in listing stuff, I'd also been divided with felt but have now decided to concentrate here and put in some real effort:)
I have a question, maybe for you Jules... do you spell in kiwi on here, ie jewellery, colour?

Re: Hi everyone!

I'm in Kaponga Kristan. I'm really undecided in my spelling. I generally find myself spelling the Kiwi way, but I'm never sure if that's the right thing to do. I can't help but think that Americans might think that I'm just a really bad speller. I try to include both spellings in my tags though.
