Hi there new team members! This is your captain Sheryl, I run Noadi's Art here on Etsy and also write the Handmade Business Blog. I started the blog almost 2 years ago to share what I've learned running my shop.

Now that anyone can start a team here on Etsy I've decided to create this team for people to share and discuss business topics with each other.

I quit my job last August and started to venture into handmade bags and wearables. Opened my shop in Nov'10, and am working towards building my inventory as well as getting more exposure for my brand. and I hope to learn more about online retailing through this forum too.

I'm Alecia of AleciaWesner which is my jewelry business here on Etsy. I am an industrial designer by background and when I became a partner in my current business (lighting), I need a more creative outlet (and do something that wouldn't conflict with my contract). My jewelry business initially started due to my friends and family wearing my jewelry and pushing me to sell it. They wore my jewelry, promoted me as a brand, and occasionally got me unexpected and wonderful publicity. I've been curious about Etsy Teams and this one sounded great for me!

Hi handmade etsians. I'm an artist who makes jewellery to break up the intensity of the art and also have a sideline of smaller sellable items. My concern as a bit of a homebody is to get exposure. Because i don't have a big list of friends and family to fuel my contacts I have to rely on other sources to market my products. I could really use some help in how to efficiently find my right clients.

Greetings from Jacksonville, Florida (US). I worked as an administrative assistant for 12 years for a university, served 12 years as well in the United States Army Reserve and today I am a housekeeper and run the Berenice Designs Shop on Etsy. I joined this team to learn more about marketing, social networking and wording the description of my items. A few years ago I started my MBA but was unable to finish my degree due to having to chose between studying or dedicating myself to help my daughter with her school. Then had a little one who is 4 1/2 yrs now, precious little thing. I would like to thank the captain of this team for the initiative on starting a new team that is mostly about learning and working together.

My name is Mary and my shop is "By Freddismom". I learned how to embroider at the tender age of 6 and I made my first hand made clothing article at the age of 12 (all hand stitched). The item was a sun suit with matching ruffled panties for my new baby niece. I've move on to more decorative things now, holiday decor, quilting, painting and floral arrangements. I stopped making clothing when I discovered the wonders of plush felt and polar fleece!
Currently I am a full time Inventory Control Specialist at the Borgata Hotel & Casino in Atlantic City, NJ as well as a almost full time crafter. I do several craft shows a year and try to keep my Etsy shop full and colorful. I joined Etsy in 2006 but 2009 was really the first year that I actually got serious with my shop. 2010 was my best year ever on Etsy and my sales almost equaled my craft show sales. It truly is my desire to do this full time so I keep plugging along and burning the midnight oil.
I hope that I can learn from everyone here as well as share whatever information I can that might help others.

Hi, I've been doing craft shows for 30 years, have a website that is doing nothing. Went the route of using Facebook with Twitter. Now I'm on Etsy, had sales right away in December and then everything stopped. I'm here to soak up all the information to help my shop. If I have any info that I can share with you I'll be happy to.

OOPS, Maybe I should tell you what I make. I design hand quilted wall hangings and soft sculpture dolls. They are more seasonal than anything.

I opened shop two month ago and am hoping to learn how to make my items more visible and have success selling.

My shop is byLIS, knit/crochet/sewn items for house, baby and wear, soy candles (not posted yet) and fine art (intend to put up cards, postcards and bookmarks of art/photography).

I had moderate success in a local consignment store (until it closed), but don't think my items translate as well on-line. Although some are traditional, many have details that make them unique.

I hope to learn more about how to have a successful ETSY store. I also hope to make some connections in this team…networking is always a positive thing!

Hi! I'm new to the group too, thanks to the recent etsy e-mail. This seemed like a great place to poke around and talk. Although I admittedly may lurk for awhile!

I'm an avid fiber artist, doing lots of spinning and knitting. I recently worked out a way to use the little bits of handspun yarns from samples or leftovers after knitting to make, what I thought, was an interesting and inexpensive jewelry line for other fiber artists and your average person! I just started selling 2 weeks ago, no sales yet... but a decent amount of views and favorites! I'm not discouraged yet.
