Printer for Heavy Cardstock

Hello,

I am looking for a new printer. I would love suggestions and feedback on printers that print on heavy cardstock for invitations specifically.

I print on anything from #110 to #130. Paper types can vary from matte, metallic and linen.

Printer needs to feed from the back so the cardstock doesn't bend or jam.

I am looking for a high quality end product of course, but I can't spend an arm and leg for it. I am trying to stick to a budget of a few hundred dollars.

Thank you in advanced!

Even professional digital presses aren't rated for 130#. This could range up to 375gsm and beyond. Better these this printing to offset trade printers. You can find small Canons and Epsons that might be able to choke through 100# and you shouldn't have much trouble with 80#.

Re: Printer for Heavy Cardstock

I'm using an Epson artisan 1430 inkjet and it says the maximum it can take is 70# but I took my chances and printed on a 110#. It worked perfectly and still does.
Only downside is that the colours look best on epson papers. So I'd say you would wouldn't have a wide range of papers to work with.

Hope this helps!

Re: Printer for Heavy Cardstock

I took a look at the newest Epson 3880 that can handle 17" wide paper and it seems really heavy duty and able to handle cardstock through the manual feeder. It's a really pricey printer though but I agree with Sara that Epson has the best ink laydown in my experience. It really is the Rolls Royce of printers followed by Canon.

fouroverfour.com prints on thick and specialty paper. I have seen samples from them, and they are very high quality. They aren't the cheapest, but their prices are competitive.
