Anyone had an issue with minecraft items?

One of my items was taken down today and I was wondering if anyone else has had an issue. Mojang company notified the admin of etsy that my item was copy right infringment and while yes i admit it was it would have been nice if Mojang had contacted me directly instead. I would have had no problem taking it down if that were that case but instead they decided to flag my shop and create a larger issue than it needed to be. I am a personal lover of MInecraft but after this issue they no longer have my respect nor will I be buying anything including minecraft from Mojang.

nope, haven't made minecraft items - however, I'd say don't get too upset. I've had cease and desists in the past from drwho, plants v zombies, thor and probably others. it's very random. in the case of plants v zombies they took down my sunflower (I think we'd agree that sunflowers are pretty much everywhere and non-specific to the game) and yet left my chomper - which is VERY specific. I took the others down voluntarily.

Oh wow, i hope this doesn't mean they are trying to claim rights to sunflowers now. These companies are getting out of hand though. At the rate they are going we wont be able to make anything without it being a copyright issue.

I was wrong about it being Mojang though. It turns out Mojang doesn't own the rights to licensed minecraft products. Mojang only makes and sells the game itself, the company Jinx owns the products and it was them that went on the sweep. They took down over 3,000 minecraft items.

wow. mind you, it doesn't seem so bad if they take down everyone else's too. when my thor meerkat was removed there were hundreds of other thor products - and seriously, did you notice any meerkats in the film? many of the items that were NOT removed were much more questionable in my opinion, but then I would think that!

I am surprised about Thor items, I was unaware they could copyright a God!

I know! That one REALLY surprised me, especially as there were so many "human" thors still here, yet my meerkat got removed. fortunately he sold elsewhere :-)

I had my creeper bag removed. Keep in mind...In order to protect a copyright, you need to takes actions to enforce it or else you could lose your copyright protection. So, by coming in here and making a sweep of certain items, the company is showing a history of enforcement.

When I got my notice I was slightly annoyed at first. I mean, after all...it is just one tiny little bag. How much damage could I be doing and, UGH, look at all these other minecraft items. 'Why are they picking on me...'

But, really, in the eyes of the licensing company, look at all the items in the search and how many items they are not collecting money on...therefore 'losing' money on.

I just had to put it into perspective...one day, I hope to have original items that sell like wildfire and I will definitely be enforcing any rights I have over them to make sure I don't lose those rights.

So what this is telling me, is they don't mind small hobby items on Etsy?
