Preserving wet specimens.

So, I realize that this doesn't involved fur, hides, and bones, but I figured someone around here would have some info to share with me.
I'm looking into preserving/collection wet specimens soon, but I'm very new to it.

What do you recommend treating your specimen with?
What do you recommend preserving it in?
What's the best way to seal the lid?
Where can I find chemicals used for preserving?
Will highly concentrated alcohol work?

Sorry for the wall of questions, any information will be helpful and greatly appreciated!

Re: Preserving wet specimens.

you can use formalin as a preservative...they sell it on ebay. If you want a cheap method that works just as well you can go to your local drugstore and get 91% isopropyl alcohol. I have many specimens preserved in the alcohol and they have lasted unchanging for years. Jars with screw caps are best because they dont require sealing, corked bottles work well too as long as they are air tight. If it is not air tight the alcohol or preservative will evaporate and you will have to constantly add to it or the specimen can dry out. Hope this helps i am still newer to the whole specimen collecting and taxidermy too but those are some tips i have learned from veterans in the field!
