Table Display - How To Improve

I was at a Vendor event this weekend, and I want to work on improving my display set up. One of the ideas I came up with was using picture frames with printed pricing, rather than the hand drawn pricing on chalk boards. Below is a link to a shop update I did while at the event through Etsy's shop updates features. What else do you think I can do to improve my display?

Re: Table Display - How To Improve

Hi Lisa,

I make jewelry too. A few years ago, using Pinterest I researched tips for selling. Adding boxes to raise displays for easier viewing, include unique & interesting items to display pieces (like a vase) and making my table/booth more like a "boutique" improved traffic and sales. I realized it's ok to mix up my jewelry too instead of grouping all the earrings, all the necklaces etc. Try grouping by color.

It's amazing how a few tweaks made a big difference. Just a few suggestions :)

Melanie

Re: Table Display - How To Improve

Hi Lisa ~

Melanie shared some fantastic ideas! Watching my table/space evolve has been rewarding. I highly recommend always photographing your display so you can watch the progression. I don't sell jewelry, but some of the same principles apply regardless it seems.

I like to have varied heights, and depending on how much space I have, and where I will be standing (behind my tables or to the side) going vertical seems to work well. I painted a whole bunch of different little wooden boxes/bins/crates and use various things to create height I need. I mix in some lace doilies so my display feels softer (my items have lots of hard surfaces with hard angles - and I wanted to soften it up).

I included a few glimpses of one of my recent show displays on my shop update page here:

I love the idea of using little chalkboards for some signs. I did the same to mix in. I love chatting with people when they approach my table, so it helps me a bit to not have everything labeled (every item is clearly priced) but I took away the sign that said 'magnets' for example, because it give me something to say when they approach - 'so all these are magnets, and then these little ones are commonly used for gift wrapping..."

One other little observation- I now build in some 'hidden' areas to my display facing the back of the table where I can set my phone and my bottle of water and a couple mints...things that are mine that I need to keep handy, but don't want seen. When I kept my water bottle on the back of the table I felt like it invited others to set their things down on my table, and yuck - coffee, wine, what have you...this sort of made it feel less of an option for shoppers.

Can't wait to see what you come up with next!

Melanie - Thank you for your suggestions. I'll certainly be researching Pinterest and seeing what resources I can come up with.

Denise - I love what you did with the chicken wire in your display! It really helps make your ornaments stand out.

Thanks to both to you. I'd love to hear some suggestions from others!

Re: Table Display - How To Improve

I took a picture of the photo framed prices and posted them as a shop update from the show I was at today: https://www.etsy.com/shop/ChesapeakeShoppe/updates/687279

I really like how it turned it, and it makes me feel a ton better than using a chalkboard with my very scratchy handwriting.

Re: Table Display - How To Improve

I actually use chalkboard signs in my display (I love the chalk look!), and I love to use the little clothespin chalkboards with a chalk marker so they are vibrant white (or colors) and will stay all day. I will clip them to trays, baskets, display boards, and I write additional notes like "Try me On!" or "Ask for more colors!" For larger signs or prices with titles I create them on the computer with a chalkboard background and use bright chalky-looking text for a cohesive look. I especially do this when framing the sign and then they are ready to go ahead of time and I can pack them this way without anything rubbing off or dulling during transport. I also like to add height like Melanie mentioned - it makes such a difference and makes the table look more dynamic. I use hat boxes, wood crates or folding shelves, and my favorite places to find goodies like that right now are Hobby Lobby and Ikea. It also allows for more table space if you can create a "shelf" out of something to layer your display.

Re: Table Display - How To Improve

Hi....
I love all of your ideas, and have been on Pinterest galore. I will be doing my one and only big show this weekend, and all of a sudden, my mind goes to the "Its all about appearances" mode, and find myself waking from sleep thinking about it. I am lucky to get to set up the Friday night before, which wanted to share it's very nice to be able to do that, as you have a little wiggle room to make many corrections, and can arrive the next morn refreshed and ready to go! I would love any suggestions as to.....my booth has no back or side wall this year. I will add height to my table like ya'll say above, but for some reason, I wish I had walls! What can I do to mainly draw attention to my "booth" without a backdrop? Thanks bunches!!!!

Re: Table Display - How To Improve

Well, I am all set up. The 10x10 booth, is obviously not quite large enough, but it's the largest they offered. It is supposed to be the biggest event in our town, and there is advertising for it as well. I will post pics tomorrow of it. May Blessings Be!!!!

Re: Table Display - How To Improve

I did some research for jewelry display ideas, and these are some of the one I like best - especially those that capture either the rustic look or a beachy feel.

Re: Table Display - How To Improve

I got my sister to make me some table displays. What do you think? The picture is on my personal Facebook page, but should be publicly viewable.
