Shipping Question!

Would if stop you from buying if a shop stated they only ship on two specific days of the week? I know some people stop by the post office once or twice a week to ship out their items & others ship daily.

Which do you prefer?

Re: Shipping Question!

It doesn't matter to me, as long as its shipped within a week (unless its made to order) I'm good

Re: Shipping Question!

It wouldn't stop me per se, but if I had a choice of the same item from (a) a shop that shipped two days per week or (b) shipped daily, I would definitely buy from the shop that shipped daily.

Bear in mind that my answer may be skewed by the fact that I live in Canada. Most shipments take up to 3 weeks to get here from the US, so I wouldn't readily order from a shop that increased that wait!

Re: Shipping Question!

I'm pretty easy going. I don't mind delays in shipping especially if it is International, or even waiting for a custom order.

I've only had a couple rush orders and I asked prior to ordering. As a buyer I have never ever had an issue with any sellers. I supposed it may happen one day.

Re: Shipping Question!

I really don't care.
The only time I care about shipping time is when I pay for overnight shipping and the shipper *cough*Amazon *cough* doesn't even ship the item after THREE days.

Otherwise, as long as it shows up within a couple of weeks (with a greater allowance for items from other countries), I'm fine.

Re: Shipping Question!

It wouldn't bother me, but I feel like if I were to do it, it would bother my buyers, so I skip to the post within 24 hours of purchase. LOL I placed an order for a shop that only shipped two days a week, and they're the state right next to mine... It's been 14 days and nada. lol Actually, two orders in the same state haven't arrived within an appropriate time frame, I think something is awry in Oregon. Wait, one of them was Oregon, and the Other Washington. Those Northwest states better watch it!

Re: Shipping Question!

I would be okay with either. My husband has the car everyday from 7:30 to 6, so I have to get friends or my mom to take me to the post office most of the time. Going twice a week is difficult sometimes, going daily is impossible, so I would understand if some people can't get there immediately.

I have to edit this to add that although I can't get to the post office very often, if it's something small or I can print a PayPal label, I at least have a box 20 feet from my apartment that I can drop it in, so it's not always an issue. I made it sound like I'm a horrible seller lol.

Re: Shipping Question!

I have it listed that I ship within 3 days, which covers weekends and those days where you just can't get to the post office. People don't seem to be concerned that I don't always ship the next day.
It wouldn't deter me if someone shipped twice a week, especially if they had it stated. If people are upfront, I'm more accommodating to shipping delays.

Re: Shipping Question!

I usually ship the day of or after payment.

So I care if someone doesn't...no but just don't lie and tell me you sent it every week for a month.

Re: Shipping Question!

There are a lot of really good points, I have been wondering because I noticed that some sellers say they only ship once or twice per week, My own shop says it may take a few days to ship out due to a busy schedule at this time I run two online shops,A high traffic blog,Have a full time day job,Trying to go back to school,Have a home,a husband & two year old to take care of so I can't really get to the post office daily but was wondering if shipping only on Mondays & Fridays would hurt my supplies sales?

Re: Shipping Question!

I'm ok with either one too, couple more days of wait it's usually don't make much different.

Re: Shipping Question!

I was going to ask that yesterday well the other side of that! I now say I ship two days a week and never a deterrent! I really go like 3-4 days but must streamline my time as I get busier so I'm going back to two like in the winter when it's icy out or bad driving. It's nice having said two though so they don't bug me every second where their item is. I made custom and I'm not rushing.

Re: Shipping Question!

On ready to ship items I just state it'll ship within 3-4 days so that brings me to one of the two anyways.

Re: Shipping Question!

again, I can't wait to get stuff in the mail, so I ship the next day...As a customer,
I have ordered from "twice a week" shippers, while it required me to draw on my untapped resources of patience, it wasn't a deal breaker.

Re: Shipping Question!

Also, I ship priority so when they receive and see that it has the feel that I rushed it for them and made up any lost time and never had a problem.

Re: Shipping Question!

I have tried to ship Priority with this shop but I really can't afford to,If I were I would have to up shipping which I think would turn buyers away because then I would have some of my $1-$3 items yet the shipping would be $2.50-$3.50 who would want to buy them?

Re: Shipping Question!

Honestly I've bought from both twice a week shippers and daily shippers and had good and bad experiences with both. As long as its clearly stated that you only ship twice a week and you do your best to keep customer service high it shouldn't be too much of a problem. I would suggest that you move your Friday to Thursday though if you can. Then things aren't sitting in the Post Office all weekend. It seems like a small think but I've found that Thursday shipped items takes 2-3 days less than Friday shipped when sent out first class. Just my two cents.

Re: Shipping Question!

Jill and I sell higher priced items and not something everyone can afford to ship priority at other price points true! However, with CD they still rush that pretty much and some claim first class with CD can be faster than priority! For Paypal claims they'll ask for CD info anyways so cover yourself!

Re: Shipping Question!

It only depends on what I am purchasing, so if it is something I needed soon I would look and even ask first when it can ship if I paid right then, other than that no big deal to me as I know people have a life.

I ship out everyday the PO is open as my mailman picks up all my packages from my porch since I have lil ones and can't/won't drag them out everyday to the PO it is a life saver. I don't schedule a pick up or anything he just looks on my porch and picks them up, and when he will be out he tells me and I leave a note in the mailbox with the flag up for the temps but most of them just pull on in the driveway and pick them up :)

As far as Priority vs First Class they almost always arrive the same time, just holidays or for zones farther away from you FC can take a day more to arrive so I never ship under 13oz priority mail doesn't make since to me.
