Caught on video: I love you for the first time

Thought I would share my joy with you via a blog post I made: http://davsart.wordpress.com/2013/07/27/i-love-you-for-the-first-time/ about my almost 5 year old, considered non-verbal autistic son saying I love you for the first time. He was saying it over and over so I grabbed the ipad and took a vine of it. Now I find myself watching it over and over and it makes me cry every time. :,)

I wouldn't have skipped a word of your blog .... you are as inspiring as your adorable son. There is a moment at the end of the litle clip where he looks to the side and his eyes are full of light and love. SImply beautiful!

Oh yay! Thank you guys (gals!) You all made my day. And Nikki, that look on his face after he says it is so sweet. He has his meltdowns like any kid with autism, but he also has a really sweet and cheerful disposition, you can see it in that look. :)

I'm totally floored, another post I made called iPads and autism talks about what a difference an ipad has made in my sons life, I talk about the apps he's really connecting with and the news got back to one of the app developers. He was so touched by my story that he left a tear jerking comment and asked me to contact him. I did and he wrote me the most wonderful email. Both my fiancé and I choked up from reading it and he's going to send my son a personalized goodie bag all having to do with his favorite app! I can hardly believe it. :D

Wonderful blog! Thank you for sharing!
I used to work with autistic foster kids. I remember tears when a boy named Edgar kissed my cheek! There are moments with these kids that feel like stepping in the gardens of heaven.

Thanks Dawn. And Karen I totally know what you mean about those moments, you learn to celebrate the "small" stuff when you have a child with special needs. Not that saying I love you for the first time is small, but just little things that with my older son I wouldn't have thought to get excited over... which I now regret.
