MANUAL Team RETWEETS: Sign-up & Instructions

Hi Team!

For those of us who participate in Team Auto-Retweets, you may or may not be aware of recent changes made by RoundTeam that have impacted our auto-retweeting. Perhaps you have noticed that your retweets numbers are drastically decreased to just a trickle.

I am in the process of finding us a new service provider to replace RoundTeam, however, in the meantime Team members have expressed a desire and willingness to manually retweet one another!

INSTRUCTION FOR MANUAL RETWEETS:

If you would like to participate in MANUAL Retweets please take the following steps:

1. Please sign up below WITH a LINK to your TWITTER and I will add your name to a new Twitter List "Manual Retweets".

2. After you've been added to the list. in your TWEETDECK add a column for the List "Manual Retweets' (do this on tweetdeck by go clicking on "add column" then select "lists" if you've been added to the Manual Retweets list you will see it listed there to select.

3. Once you've added the Manual Retweets column, set the 'content' filter on the column for "#etsymntt" and set it to EXCLUDE retweets.

Once you have the Manual Retweets column set up you can go there whenever you have a few minutes to do some retweeting. Please remember that your followers are seeing your retweets so you don't want to overwhelm your account. Remember our auto-retweeting was pretty conservative only 8-10 an hour. That's in addition to your own tweets.

Also, you may find it convenient to schedule your retweet right there on tweetdeck.

I got subscribed, and I got the column added and filtered, and I can retweet immediately. But I haven't figured out how to schedule a retweet in Tweetdeck. Can anyone here tell me how to do that?

I figured out how to schedule retweets in Hootsuite (and scheduled a few that way last night), but it changes the URLs in the original tweet to their own shortened version, even if they're already short URLs, and I don't like that.

The only way I figured out to schedule a retweet in TweetDeck is as follows:
1. Click on the retweet icon as usual
2. Choose to quote the tweet. This option requires you to say something about the tweet you are retweeting. One word or phrase will work. (For example: "Magical!", that one works for your shop, "Lovely!", "Great!", "Terrific!", "Want one!", and the always appropriate:"Check it out!")
3. Scheduling options are then available as in a regular tweet.

BTW, are you aware of the fact that you can upload a bulk of tweets with the time you want them sent out using Hootsuite? I love that feature but now that my subscription has expired my budget will now allow me to renew.

I have been wondering why I haven't had a retweet, or retweeted anyone, for 2 weeks! I am set up on TweetDeck, I think. I am going to try to get set up onHootsuite today and will do what I can for manual retweeting. Thank you all, and thanks Clarissa!

I feel your pain on the budget. I am currently paying the $15 a month on Hootsuite so that I can bulk upload my tweets (Toni Wooten - the bulk upload is only available free on a short trial basis - like 30 or 60 days, if I remember right), but I scheduled tweets manually on TweetDeck for about a year before I felt I could (barely) afford to pay Hootsuite. It has saved me tremendous time, but there are a few changes I would make to it if I had my 'druthers'. I especially don't like that Hootsuite's bulk scheduler limits you to scheduling on the fives (ex: 8:05, 8:10, 8:15, etc), but I'll take what I can get, :-)

I have a question - I have set up the column for Manual Retweets on TweetDeck but do not see my own tweets coming through on there. Is there something else that I need to do besides subscribe to the list on Twitter? Thanks!

Hi Erika!

Here's what you can do instead of using tweetdeck:

1. from your Twitter account subscribe to the Teaam's Manual Retweet List. Here's the link:

2. then, when you click on the list from your twitter, you will see Team member tweets that you can retweet from there. However those tweets will be a mixture of their #etsymntt tweets and their regular tweets

but without tweetdeck that is the only way to confine your retweets to the members on the manual retweet list.

Otherwise if you just do a search on Twitter for the team hashtag you will get a mix of non-members using it as well as members not yet aware that we have switched to manual retweeting.
