EtsySocial Retweet Test!!

Team I am beyond excited for us to start testing our new auto-retweet app!!!

The set up for the test is very simple:

Step 1. Signed into your EtsySocial account: http://etsysocial.com
(if your account is not active, just let me know and I'll renew you)

Step 2. Set up the Auto-Retweet - follow this link: http://etsysocial.com/admin/retweet

Fill in:
1. Team's Twitter Username: etsymeetntweet
2. Team Retweet List: etsymntt
3. Team Hash Tag: #etsymntt

WHAT WE ARE TESTING FOR:
The main objective for this test is to determine if the app is behaving the way we need it to. ie is it...

1. posting a max of 10 retweets an hour to our Twitter accounts?
2. posting in a minimum of 5 min intervals?
3. only posting team # retweets from our Team Twitter List?
4. retweeting 1 team # tweet per member per hour?*
5. filtering out profanity (we don't need to test this one :D just know the developer is working on building a very long list of bad words!)

(* this rule is to protect us from having our hashtag abused...along with rule no. 2... the goal is that even if someone posted 5 #tweets in an hour only one would get retweeted.)

IMPORTANT Please Note: With this test you may or may not see an increase in your tweets being retweeted since we are using our main twitter lists of 223 members. We're testing with this list first so that the app has a large pool of retweets to pull from.

The next test we do will be with a new smaller list and then we will see ourselves being retweeted. Depending on this first test, we should be ready for the second test by the middle of the week! ...and maybe by this time next week, we will be implement Team wide and get this party started!!! (but we will talk about a new team hashtag before then).

I will definitely be using #emnttM again. I am just not using it now because I thought it might help to confuse the testing that we are doing ... more clutter ... but maybe not since it is a different hashtag. Anyway, that has been my reasoning of late. By no means will I abandon it ... I just put in on "hold" for the time being. Should I restart retweeting on #emnttM when I have a few minutes?

I'm working on a commission and at times I'm almost pulling my hair out with frustration, so sometimes good to walk away from it. (It is coming along, however, even if annoying.)

I was just now on TweetDeck at 2:11 p.m. East Coast time. I was being retweeted currently at about 10 to 13 rtws per my automatic tweet, though this does not happen for every single automatic tweet. This is certainly very good news; however, I am wondering why at almost 2 a.m. this morning I was getting 30 and 32 retweets on two differing automatic tweets of mine. I'm wondering why the number was so large in the early morning hours, not as much now? (I know what you are thinking ... "some people are NEVER satisifed!" "Be grateful, girl"!) :)

You can RT any tweet that DOES NOT have #etsymntt in it. Some of us were putting both hashtags in the same tweet, #emnttm and etsymntt

Well ... Della Walsh and Karen Donato were the only two people that I saw in my #emnttM column right now on TweetDeck ... and there was tweet after tweet ... tons of them, all in a row, but I couldn't retweet any of them except ONE for Karen Donato ... because all the rest exhibited BOTH #etsymntt and #emnttM. So, teamies, I will be doing some manual retweeting occasionally, but only if I DO NOT SEE the #etsymntt exhibited in your tweet ... because I do not want to interfere with our testing time of our new App.

I changed my twitter to read @swirlingOrange1 so you can find me easier and I have tweeted individually either #emnttM OR #etsymntt for the test to distinguish. I will tweet a few now with each hashtag ... let me know if you all see these tweets!!! I will tweet 2 for each tag MANUALLY ... let's see if this is showing up in tweetdeck.

Hi Team!

Thank you again for taking part in the test and thanking for supporting each other! It's has been so helpful to see what is happening so that we can guide our developer and below is list of items I will bring to him today:

1. Retweeting the same account more than once in an hour
2. Retweeting someone not on our list
3. Retweets of tweet that didn't have our hashtag
4. Retweeting older tweets - (i think that's why the timeline looks screwy. its showing the time/date of the original tweet)
5. Retweeting only certain people?
6. Retweeting one's own tweet

Please let me know if I left anything off.

So we have some weird things happening and as MadamCoyote pointed out this is why we beta test! :D

@Jan - Please let me know if your twitter is still not auto-retweeting.

@Swirling - please keep in mind that the goal of this first test was too see the auto-retweeting happening. As I mentioned in the initial thread, since we were retweeting the whole team twitter list, we may or may not have seen an increase for ourselves in being retweeted. That will be round two of our testing.

RETWEET TEST - ROUND TWO

Hi Team,

In round two of our testing we are going to do a more closed test. I narrowed our 'etsymntt' twitter list down to just those us participating in the test - https://twitter.com/etsymeetntweet/lists/etsymntt/members (the complete team list is now "Etsymeetntweet Team").

There are 13 members on this list. If you are not on this list it means we have to get your auto-retweeting set up on EtsySocial - see below.

We have:

For round two, we want to see ourselves being retweeted. So for this it's important that we don't manually retweet. We are only going to do this for a few days.

What will be key is POSTING tweets with our #etysmntt. If you can post/auto a tweet an hour that would be great.

Then look to see WHO from our list is auto-retweeting you. (I've asked the developer to fix the auto-tweet issue on etsysocial).

If you want to take part in Round Two Here's - How to Set up your Auto-Retweeting on EtsySocial:

1. Make sure you are logged into your EtsySocial,
2. Follow this link: http://etsysocial.com/admin/retweet
3. Fill in the spaces: 1. EtsyMeetNTweet 2. Etsymntt 3. #etsymntt
4. Check the "Activate" box

if it doesn't work and you get continuous swirling, check to see if you have your tweet account authorized by clicking the auto-tweets tab on your etsysocial dashboard. Let me know if you need any help!

I have 46 tweets set up on etsy social auto tweet and it is set to tweet 15 mins after the hour. For some reason or the other it is only tweeting every 4 to 5 hours. Do you have an idea of the problem may be?

@Swirling Orange 1 - don't worry ... I DIDN'T DO a Tweet of my own for the #emnttM column .... I didn't have time to generate one without also having the #etsymntt attached to it. In other words, I couldn't simply "Retweet", I would have had to write a Tweet out from scratch. I didn't have time to do that, so I only retweeted YOURS. BUT ... the only one I saw of yours was the Tweet featuring the GLOBE. You said that you tweeted several. I only saw that ONE, which is concerning! I've been away today, haven't been on TweetDeck yet. I will go now, and if I see several of your Tweets I will report back. If you don't hear from me, you will know that they are not showing up in my #emnttM column.

Morning all!
Ok so I am all set up now for Round Two. I have activated auto-retweets. I will let you know if it starts working. I have only got 7 tweets set up in EtsySocial with the #etsymntt hashtag. The rest have no hashtag at the moment during this test. These 7 are set up for once an hour but are only being auto retweeted every five hours.

Btw my visits went up to 30 yesterday but I have been listing new products maybe that's why?

Clarissa, I have set up EtsySocial for autotweets at 22 minutes past the hour. I have places about 18 tweets in there last night. But nothing has happened. None of them have tweeted and I can't figure out why. Help!

I just spoke with the developer and sent him our findings!

Things are looking good! I know it can be frustrating finding the kinks but in doing so Team we are much closer to where we want to be! It's Saturday evening where he is and he will get started working on our findings tomorrow!

Regarding Auto-Tweets on EtsySocial. It's the 'cron job' It gets reset per the hosting company to every 5 hours when they do system updates. I alerted the developer he will put it back to our settings.

I am not being retweeted now by the App. Clarissa knows this. We had a conversation about an hour ago, and she looked me up on TweetDeck. Nope! No retweeting of my tweets by the App happening for me now. About five or more days ago I was getting some good retweeting for about a day, dropped off the next day and the next, and now, nothing. If you're not getting retweeted, you are certainly not the only one. I guess we all just have to hang together until this is worked out.

My auto tweets are still at least five hours apart but they are being retweeted.

I'm going through my feed now, and I'm putting together a spreadsheet showing exactly who/what/when I'm auto-retweeting. When I finish that, I'll try to see if any of mine are being retweeted - I haven't yet figured out the best way to tell on that, since the auto retweet seems to be mostly retweeting stuff from around 8/6 & 8/7. I'm sure there's a column I can set up in either Hootsuite or Tweetdeck (I have both) that will show me that, but I haven't had time to figure it out yet.

Amy, I figured out how to find out how many RTs we are getting with our #etsymntt hashtag. This assumes that this is the only tag for RTs in the tweet.

I used Twitter analytics, downloaded the data for the last 28 days into Excel. This is a whole lot more data than you need but it does contain number of RTs per tweet regardless when the RT was done. Since I have tweets that don't have the #etsymntt hashtag I used the find function to locate the string etsymntt within the tweet: =FIND("etsymntt",C2). This function generates a number in a new column if the string appears in the tweet if not, the string #value appears in the new column. By sorting on this field I can isolate the tweets with this team's hashtags.

It's a way to get there from here. I'm sure you will develop others, but I thought I'd share.

I have a THIRD tweet lined up which hasn't autotweeted yet (even though I thought one would go off every hour at five minutes after the hour) It says about the same thing ... no product involved. These tweets are easy for me to spot and keep track of. So far, there has been ABSOLUTELY NO RETWEETING of these obvious "test" tweets. Nothing! Not one. Clarissa says there should be about 12 (or however many of us are on this 2nd testing ... there's a bunch of us).
