How is everyone getting on with their shops this week? Anyone finding it a bit slow (I am!)?
Do any of you have any specific goals for the next few days? Mine are:
- to prepare for an arts fair on Sunday in Ware, Herts
- to seriously get my ideas down on paper for my christmas/seasonal cards and prints!
Hope everyone is well - I seem to have found myself as Captain and I'm not quite sure how ;)

Congratulations on becoming captain :)

Re: Hello!
I was a little disappointed this week. The week before I'd had a couple of sales, but views really tailed off the last few days .
My shops only been open a couple of weeks,so hopefully things will gradually pick up.
Nice Avatar Seeta! I love the black and gold. It's really stylish and eye catching.
And Jen,your shop is lovely. I will look forward to seeing your new Christmas things.

I've been feeling the low as well - not many views and just very slow going! I guess this can be the case every few weeks though. Gives us time to create new things!

Hi everyone, I've just joined the team :)
I haven't been on here long and haven't found that many people have found my shop at all. It would be great to share tips for making yourself more visible!
My to do list for this week includes finishing my to do list before Renegade Craft Fair - I have a stall there on 9 & 10 November so have got to get organised!

Re: Hello!
Hi!
I've definitely had a big drop in views and orders the past 2 weeks, hopefully it's just a pre- xmas season low.
I'm currently building up my stock for xmas and possible markets around London.

Re: Hello!
Hi
I haven't had any sales over the last month but have been so busy making new garments. My aim is to have a least 20 items ready made for sale and 5 items on offer for custom made. I feel the more there is to see, the better.
Its hard work and labour intensive but sewing is an obsession now!
I'm trying to make eye-catching items from a range of centuries.
I'm also trying to find time to source fabrics. Especially 100% natural fibres such as silk or linen. This is proving quite hard. So many fabrics I am finding are NOT 100% pure, especially cotton, in spite of the claims of shopkeepers.
When I do find a shop selling natural fabrics the prices are quite high, naturally and I need to try and negotiate discounts.
So these are my aims for the coming winter months - that and branding and advertising.
I have so many ideas in my head - its a question of putting them all in to some sort of order!

Re: Hello!
Hi!
I feel like a bit of an intruder, I'm living in Singapore for a year, but I'm from london, will be returning to London next Summer. I hope I don't get banished from the group!
My partner's at home revising for exams this week so my photo taking's been put on a hault, so my goal this week is for when he's out doing exams, to take photos of my new stuff! Can't wait to get it all on the shop. Overall goal is be putting a few new things on the shop every couple of weeks. Most of my business is from friends and family, only two sales from complete strangers, that needs to change!
I need to start pushing the shop and advertising it better for xmas, but I'm travelling so much in the next few months, I'm not sure how it's going to work.
I'm off to Vietnam in a week, hoping to get a lot of new amazing gemstones out there! Fingers crossed!

Hi everyone.
I make masks, which means I've actually been pretty busy the last couple of weeks what with Halloween coming up!
Getting much quieter now though so it's going to be time to focus on getting some new items into my shop before Christmas and getting through my to-do list for Wanstead Makers Market next month - my first market stall!

I'm new here and i've been creating so hard this year. I do wish to get some more items photographed and listed in my shop this week so that I'll be ready for the pre christmas buzz!! calendars are always a hit at this time of year, however i'm completely new to this online thing!
Am going to Camden to source out a good location for a stall / cubby hole this week!
Leoni, I am also trying to source completely natural fabrics. Not all my fabrics are certified organic at present, but it is my desire that in the long term, all my goods will be as such!
well, good luck all and hope you get a moment to pop past and check the store. Sorry i don't have too much there at the moment.
Blessings!
Lim

Re: Hello!
Lim - your designs are very striking and original. I haven't had time to do much fabric hunting but could let you know if I come across a shop selling pure and/ or organic fabrics.
I f you or anyone here knows or finds such a shop either online or an actual bricks and mortar shop I'd be really interested to know.
All the best everyone!
Leonie

Thank you Leonie. Your corsets and dresses are also exquisite.
With regard the organic materials... I shall do the same if and when i find a suitable supplier. I've been talking with someone from the GOTS team ... they have a list of 414 suppliers on their website ... but it would involve shipping from India or China or Bangladesh or Pakistan ... of, egypt too ... so i feel like that task is akin to finding a needle in a haystack. The quality and naturalness of the material is so important !
i'm sorry to be clueless on the bricks and mortar question.
I also seek large flat woodcarving blanks at reasonable cost ... the best place to source... that is bar shaping and planing a local fresh wind fallen tree! (there is one fresh fallen but i pray the large beast survives (he has a chance, he's on the river bank - split right in half tho!) ... i have a feeling i may be ebaying it for this one.
Kindest regards and Blessings to all,
Lim.

My shop has been slow for a long time, got so much to sell and so many ideas in being creative with paintings/jewellery etc.
Just got to keep trying till the right person comes along and see's something they want. I'm considering in creating a Facebook art page for myself to get myself out there and hopefully with help of Etsy/friends, more people will get to notice my shop as millions go on the site and find other artists etc.
Hope this idea helps others and good luck to all xx

Hi all,
I new to selling on Etsy.
I put my artwork up earlier in the year, and found it very hard to sell anything, and quite demotivating.
Do you have any tips, do you all just keep trying?
I also make handmade sketchbooks and notebooks, and they appear to be more popular, but sales are still very few and far in between.
Wishing you all good luck for the coming weeks!

Hello! This is actually the first team I've joined... I've JUST uploaded my first set of patterns and I'm crossing my fingers for the first sale. (Not entirely sure what the step after 'Upload' is...)
I'm planning to create a set of patterns in case someone wants all rather than one or two. As my first collection is Christmassy, I'm now turning my attention to some New Year ideas and working on my lino printing so I can add those to the shop too.
Lovely to meet you all - hello again!

Re: Hello!
Hello,
I would like to get more in my shop but sadly don't have much storage space at home (I sell furniture) so can only really have a few things in my Etsy shop at a time. I also need to try and be more patient about sales! I get really down if things don't sell within a couple of weeks but I realise this just isn't realistic. Hope everyone is selling well and enjoying Etsy!

Hi - my focus for this week is researching local craft fairs, pop up events etc..and trying to get myself booked in for a few....whilst also trying to promote my new shop online. I'm hoping that actually getting out there and attending some markets/events etc...might encourage customers to my online store. Fingers crossed.
