Minimum Quantity Options

Would love to see a minimum quantity setting for each listing. I don't like to sell fewer than x of a given style to wholesalers, so a setting to create a minimum quantity PER STYLE would be lovely.

I'd like to see this too! I specifically asked about this in November when I joined EW. The reply was to offer those items in lots of 6 or 12 (or whatever quantity). I don't like that option because if there is (or ever will be) an option for buyers to search by price, it would make my $2 items appear to be $20 items ... so they might get overlooked even more than they already are.

We know how important this is and it is certainly on our radar. While is may seem like a simple feature, it is actually rather complicated to implement from a technical perspective. Just wanted to let you know we absolutely hear your need for this and will be working on it!

Agreed-- instating minimum quantities during the "add to cart" is definitely needed! It's really frustrating to get a new wholesale order only to find that the buyer hasn't met our minimums on item quantities (and it's awkward for both us and the buyer in terms of having to follow up about the issue).

Our minimums are stated in our shop policies and on each category page (but it seems it might be a little buried in the policies section). Right now, the only workaround I see is to update each listing to include it in the item description.

Even something that would notify buyers that they need to add *blank* amount to the cart to meet the minimum order requirement would be a great start!

This is an absolute necessity.

Different items in our (and frankly, most) catalogs have different product minimums. Listing a greeting card as a "set of six" may be a workaround, but is confusing as both a seller and a buyer, making cards look more expensive than they are, and precluding intermediate quantities (10 cards, for instance).

YES!! I'm glad to know I'm not the only one - DEFINITELY need this.
I hate having to go back and adjust an invoice for a buyer that hasn't reach the minimum quantity for each item.

I also have different minimums for diff items.
6 for single greeting cards
3 for home goods and posters.

There needs to be a way to prevent people from purchasing less than the minimum.

Yes to this! There need to be more options for pricing and minimums. Things like item-level minimums and support for case quantities. Yes, you can make your listing be for a case/set (that's what I've done with all of mine.) But then there's no way to accurately display retail and wholesale price per piece, and buyers browsing by price do not have any way to compare apples to apples when looking at a shop that lists by the case and one that lists by the piece.

Selling wholesale, for most of us, is only profitable when bulk quantities are involved. For some people that will simply be a certain total quantity of items or a certain total dollar amount. But for many of us, it means minimums of each item or each type of item, or cases of certain preset quantities. We need a marketplace that supports these different options.

I think EW is doing a lot of things right, so I don't mean to complain. But this is one area that is seriously lacking. And it's surprising, given that case quantities and item minimums are pretty standard in wholesale. I consider this to be a basic level of functionality that EW has ignored, and if it's not addressed I don't think I'll be staying on the site when I have to pay for it.

To offer another perspective....

As a brick and mortar owner who has purchased from many Etsy shops including Etsy wholesalers - if sellers demand "minimum quantities" of a specific item it can be a turnoff. No offense, but if I have never purchased an item from you or seen it in person - I don't want to order multiple quantities of it. At least not until I have held it in my own hands and most importantly seen how it sells in my shop....

Nat, would the wholesale price have any influence on your above statement? Personally, I can see a big difference between a minimum requirement of 3 items @ $35 vs. 12 items @ $3. In other words, would you be willing to "gamble" a small amount ... or not at all, no how, no way?
