Suzanne, Your photos of jewelry would be better on a solid background rather than the open weave fabric. It interferes with clearly seeing the small details of the jewelry. Take a look at your earrings on a solid red background...much clearer.
There is a great team called Etsy Shop Critique in which you can submit your shop and/or blog for a critique. The captain does video critiques in which she covers just about all the aspects of your shop. Even if your shop is not on the schedule right at the moment, view the videos she has and you will pick up a LOT of great information.
Essie, like you, I never joined social networking sites before and never had any use for them. However, after opening my shop I found that it was necessary to network and do whatever you can to get your name out there. Marketing is VERY important. Therefore, I forced myself to join Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and I write a blog. It has helped expose me (no pun intended) to the world. And within Etsy, join a lot of teams and participate. Don't just join teams and sit back. You must be proactive. Keep posting your new items, comment on the items on other sites, provide advice when you can or have the expertise to do so, Create Treasuries. Save favorites. Don't favorite something just to be saving them, really mark those you like. Contact other shop owners if you have a question or a suggestion. Get out there and do it!
If anyone has advice I would appreciate feedback: we're on Etsy since mid January 2013. Have been trying to make any "reasonable" accommodations potential buyers request. How much is enough? One person from Italy and I have had 14 convos about a $29 product that hasn't even been ordered. Each convo ups the requests. I love talking to interested parties but I can't convo for two straight days about a potential sale. I've been involved in two other mult. Email situations w/ neg results. Help pls
The "buyer" from Italy is just trying to get you to agree to the lowest possible price, but you have a make a profit. Just quit dickering with him/her and tell him/her that $X.00 is your price and you will make no further adjustments. If it is a custom piece he wants, make him give you a substantial non-refundable partial payment before you begin, or even perhaps the total payment. And don't forget to include the proper international postage. Put your foot down. If he backs away, you are probably better off without him.
Thank you Michy for the response. I did complete the request posted it again as reserved and have not heard from her again. I, hopefully, will be more concise with less " dickering" (love that term) next time. I really do appreciate your time!
I'm new to this team. Are we allowed to ask for advice on a specific transaction? I emailed Etsy support via the help links nearly 48 hours ago seeking their guidance and haven't received a reply.
If the answer is no, are sellers allowed to open a case against a buyer?
