where did this feature go???

Over the Holidays I had the option of offering my customers different shipping speeds in my shop..

this was so cool because it allowed customers to choose 2-3 day priority mail shipping!!!

However, this feature has disappeared from every listing in my shop!!!! Any Idea how I can get it back!!

Etsy decided that this was not a viable option, and took it down.

Oh seriously? I had heard awhile back that they were going to add this and I was super excited! It's such a pain to have to mainly upgrade shipping when a customer asks for it. How many more would use it if they didn't have to bother to ask us about it? Every other retail site has this... makes sense that Etsy would too.

Does anybody know what the theory behind this is? Because I see sellers who have all sorts of non-Etsy-approved listings: shipping upgrades, larger sizes, monogramming, rush sewing...

because its not right for the customer. if you show a picture of an item and they buy it thinking its the item itself not the rush shipping or whatever than the customer is screwed. i know that many sellers are clear in their non item listing but i have seen plenty of listing for rushing an item where its really not clear and can be confusing.

no other company has different items for rush shipping. its either an option at checkout or not allowed at all. but i will say the way etsy did it was confusing, they should have had a cart wide upgrade option at checkout.

what i think you can do though is invoice customers for any extras. or just hope you dont get reported to etsy. i know some shops do stuff thats not allowed all the time and others cant step one toe out of line of else.

yes, shipping upgrade listings are against Etsy TOU

you can upgrade after the sale by sending a paypal invoice. since there is no transaction fees on shipping, this is ok and not fee avoidance.

but it's a lousy system and i'm quite disappointed that Etsy took the shipping options away. seems so unprofessional to not have shipping options like other online shops. ugh!!! i actually loved being on the team. oh well.

the possibility for shipping upgrades would be very nice because sometimes people would like to have their items faster. there has to be a way people can choose faster shipping
