I know this is a shot in the dark but someone told me that she found a shop on etsy that paid her to work the their etsy shop and customer service. Is that a thing? I'm a new mommy and hubby and I need a little extra income.

Apart from the rulebreaking (you are not allowed to give someone else access to your account) it would be kind of deceiving your customers. Buying from one person, getting customer service from another person? That won't do a seller's reputation much good.
The point of Etsy is (or at least was) buying directly from the artist and having personal contact with them.

I could be very wrong about this, but I think under certain circumstances your allowed to have employees to help you make your items. However, I don't think they are supposed to run your shop for you. It does sound fishy. im learning that there is all kinds of rule agoing on
