spike in views

I have had a recent spike in views of many of my inactive, sold out & deleted items. I know that from time to time, people have had something in their cart for a while & that may generate a view, and occasionally I check out someone else's shop and look at their sold items, so I understand the occasional view of my sold listings, but this has been a lot more than usual spread out over the last several days in a row. Has this happened to anyone else?

Re: spike in views

Perhaps those items are featured somewhere online?
Think Pinterest, blog features, etc.
That is how I get lots of fews on sold (out) products.

Re: spike in views

(Obviously I don't get that many views or I probably wouldn't even have noticed)

I know I'm overanalyzing this, but in addition to the unusually high number of very old sold out items that have been viewed lately, I counted 9 different private custom listings all for different customers from 2014 that have been viewed within the last 7 days. Private listings wouldn't have been on Pinterest, etc. I just think it's odd & and it's got me curious.

Re: spike in views

Unfortunately, these are bots. I don't know about the inactive listings, but lots of sellers have started getting direct traffic on sold items, even custom order listings, the last couple of weeks. If you look in Bugs (Forums) you will see threads about this.

Re: spike in views

I've had huge spikes like that recently, too. It drives me nuts. They are indeed bots, and I'm sick of it. I wish Etsy would do something.

Re: spike in views

Yesterday we also had a lot of views of thee items which were sold very long time ago! And it could not be the result of Pinterest, as when those items were sold, I did not even know yet what Pinterest is!
I am not really bothered or concerned about it, just got curious. Can someone explain why these bots are surfing through old listings? Does that make any sense?

Re: spike in views

Check bugs forum. Everyone is experiencing this...coming from Direct Views...most likely bots. You can read over there and see the guesses of why and how. Admin is aware.

Re: spike in views

Have you also noticed that your sold listings are getting views in chronological order? First it was the most recent....then moving towards the oldest. Especially the custom order listings. It is really weird how this is happening.

Re: spike in views

Sometimes my old deleted, sold and expired items will show up in my recently faved. I figure it is someone refaving someone elses faves. My pleco that sold 2 years ago has shown up a couple of times.
