How do you keep track of your money?

So, how do you keep track of your shop finance?
I have been writing in my little notebook - the very old fashion way, haha!

I'd love to know what you all do to keep track!
Do you use excel? Or some cool application on your phone?
Please share! (:

I have built excel file. It contains revenues and expenses. At the end of the month I update it. I wish revenues would be bigger....

Re: How do you keep track of your money?

Hi,

I am starting to search for that information myself. I found a couple of sources you may want to check out.

I belong to the Etsy U.S. Tax, Bookkeeping, and Business License Topics Team. You may find a lot of valuable information there. Here is the link:

Also, here is an interesting thread from that Team:

Lastly, you may want to consider visiting the forums and post your question there to obtain further information:

There is a wealth of information provided on these Etsy sites. Good luck to you.

Re: How do you keep track of your money?

I'm comfortable with excel so I use a spreadsheet to keep track. But it all depends on how much you sell and what you are comfortable with.

I can imagine a high volume seller might want to invest in some bookkeeping software. But for a small volume seller, like myself, a little book or an excel sheet would probably be sufficient.

Re: How do you keep track of your money?

I use go daddy accounting, I am not a book keeper and I like that it imports my sales from all over the web.
then I just be sure to always use my paypal debit card for biz expenses so those get logged in there too.

Re: How do you keep track of your money?

I track my vintage inventory in an Excel workbook, using one sheet for each type of goods (ceramic, furniture, linens, etc.).

I'm a big fan of GoDaddy bookkeping because it imports sales directly from Etsy. I have a business debit card and checking account that are also linked to GoDaddy so all expenses are imported. I can check revenue and expense through their app. GoDaddy also generates my Schedule C at tax time.
