re-listing

how often are people re-listing their items? I'm guessing this increases the viewings? :)

Re: re-listing

Hi Marvin,
I try not to relist but add new. However many will relist a few items daily if they are not adding. As far as time if you don't have google analytics you will want to install that so that you can see when people are visiting your shop.

Re: re-listing

I checked my GA stats to see when I get the most views and try to relist right before that time. Remember that this is an international site, so it really just depends! I woke up with a sale from Germany!

I've only been selling since December, so I haven't been relisting on any kind of schedule yet. I'm trying out this week listing a new item every day and relisting 2 items twice a day before my two peak times. I try to pick items from different categories as well. We will see what happens.

Re: re-listing

I also like to add new items. It is a goal of mind but photography is hard for me. I have re listed a few times, it always gets me sales, and lots more views. So I hold off until I am almost out of work and than I re list.

Re: re-listing

People say it's better to list new items than to re-list old ones. But when it takes a significant amount of time to create a new piece, it can be hard to consistently add new listings.

I re-list my items every 15-20 days to make sure I'm not too far down in a potential buyer's search results. It's a somewhat arbitrary number. Basically I'll search through items similar to mine as though I were a potential buyer, and if I get bored before i find my listing, it's too far down. The average seems to be about 2 weeks.

That might seem like a lot (?), but the way I look at it, people aren't searching for new quilts every week or two, so it's not like they're going to get bored seeing my listings over and over. And even re-listing that often costs me a grand total of $5 per item per YEAR. That's really not much.

Re: re-listing

BTW - there is a difference between relisting and renewing

Renewing is paying .20 to renew a current item for sale and bumps it to the top of the charts.

Relisting is relisting a sold item for .20. This not only bumps it in search, but also maintains links, hearts and views. Important for SEO and people who favored the item. It's difficult for those of us that offer OOAK, but others who can find it way better than "copy" or "new listing".

Re: re-listing

Ooops, to answer your actual question, I find that setting a daily budget for renewing, and renewing throughout the day, everyday is best. My current daily budget is about a $1.

Also, traffic can vary from day to day, so it's difficult to determine when the best time is....

There is an app that will automatically renew your stuff for you based on Etsy traffic, though, it monitors views in real time and when views are up, it will relist for you. You can also set a budget.
