I notice lately that the thing that makes me click on a shop or visit a website the quickest and above anything else is an interesting name... I'm a sucker for an off beat or very creative business name and cant wait to see the products they carry so please post your interesting shop names below so we can all admire your creativity and interesting products which is the second thing that draws me in so please post your most interesting and unique item in your shop below as well.

Looking forward to it..
Thanks

Great thread! So many interesting names and products!

My shop name was inspired by my son :).

The most unique items in my shop are probably my wire wrapped bracelets...

My shop name is a mixture of my husband and I. I make bath and body items especially specializing in specific skin conditions.

Re: "It's all in the name"

It's really fun knowing why everyone picked their names. There are some really unique ones.

Mine is Jewelrybyssd. Ssd stands for SeaStarDesigns which is really my companies name but it didn't let anyone know I sold jewelry. But I picked it in memory of my parents.

I brainstormed for about a month for a name for my shop. I kept coming back to COC and I am glad I did.

I have always called my pets fur babies ( well except for those with out fur .. hmm *l*) , because they were always part of the family and the perpetual baby no matter how old they were/are.

Re: "It's all in the name"

My high school physics teacher called me "Silent Magician" and I thought it was cool that it used my real initials (SM) so I kept it. When I started marketing my art I realized everything was already set up with that name and I thought it would be too confusing to start over with my actual name, and thus SilentMagician Fine Art was born! Just proof that you're never really free of high school, haha :-) Here's a picture from the town where the great "Silent Magician" name was born:

Re: "It's all in the name"

Wonderful thread. I've gone through and added some shops and items to my favorites and will be coming back here for some treasuries, too.

My shop name was originally "Martha's Many Things". My husband came up with the name because I had a variety of things for sale: jewelry, painted glass, knitted wear. And it had some kind of biblical reference and he's a biblical scholar of sorts. But I never really liked the name and when I started selling jewelry exclusively, it just didn't fit. I'm rotten at thinking up good names so I held a contest in one of my teams and the winner got a pair of earrings.

I picked "Urban Jule" because I wanted to appeal to the city crowd, thus "urban", and I liked the play on words of Jule/jewel. It could either stand for jewelry or a woman's name. And the urban dictionary defines the name Jule as: "does things out of the ordinary". Here is my current favorite piece:

Re: "It's all in the name"

My husband helped me come up with my name. I wanted something that sounded homey and rustic and kind of country. I'm pretty happy with it. My hubby is smart ;)
I've always used the name Mountain Creek Soaps, Candles & Gifts, but I'm thinking about just using Mountain Creek Gift because it's shorter and easier. What do ya'll think? :) This past summer while my shop was closed (we moved to Fl and then back to OH this year and I had to close my shop for a while) I thought about changing the name to Country Garden Soap Co. but when it came time to open up again I just kept it as it was. I have good connections that know me as Mountain Creek Gift and didn't want to mess that up. ;)

As far as unique items... I think all of my items are unique because I make each thing totally from scratch... no soap bases or things like that, and my recipes are totally original. I loooove coming up with new products! And my husband is a great product tester and constructive critic :) Here's one of my most unique soaps in the shop so far.... although I'm totally in love with my layered Cinnamon Spice soap that I'll be listing soon! :)

Re: "It's all in the name"

I've blogged as The Manor of Mixed Blessings for years but that's too long for a shop name and "MixedBlessings" was taken. I am irreverent, like playing with language, and have an unfortunate tendency to puns, and realized that "chickens, dogs, and holy goats" had exactly the same rhythm as "Father, Son, and Holy Ghost". So I went ahead and used Holy Goats.

My favorite item in my shop right now is this soap:

Re: "It's all in the name"

Brittany -- yay, another from-scratch soaper! I think melt-and-pour bases would be a lot less fun. No tweaking the recipes, no moment of horror when you realize it's trying to crawl out of the mold and eat you...

(I've never actually had soap volcano on me, but I live in fear since I know milk & honey both make a soap more prone to it)

Re: "It's all in the name"

So many great stories and interesting shops on this thread!

My shop name was my user name from other sites, and it appeared during a silly discussion with a friend about superhero/Bond character names. I wanted a name for my shop that didn't tie me to a specific item, although I think for SEP purposes, a shop name with a keyword in is probably better.

Sometimes I think my shop name is embarrassingly weird. And--good grief--I'm trying to sell vintage plastic flatware. https://www.etsy.com/listing/106006992/retro-1970s-plasticware-picnic-orange

My shop name isn't exactly creative, but it has meaning behind it. Monarch butterflies have a lot of meaning in my family.

Re: "It's all in the name"

I've been an Artgirl all my life and 56 is my lucky number. Plus "Artgirl56" is kind of a play on words similar to "Department56."

This is my biggest selling item and the most unique--and the painstaking item to make! It is a ceramic earring bowl which is handthrown on the pottery wheel. It has holes in the rim all the way around for holding earrings and then bracelets, watches, etc. go inside the bowl part:

Re: "It's all in the name"

I agonized for months coming up with a name for my shop. I've always loved the word nacreous I like how such a harsh word describes something so pretty. I added alchemy to it and it just seemed like the perfect fit for my work. Here's one of the unique items from my shop: https://www.etsy.com/listing/112331329/zombie-art-gothic-home-decor-ceramic

Re: "It's all in the name"

Great thread, have found some fantastic shops here!

I have always found naming things so hard (usernames, characters, pets... you name it, always takes me an age to settle on 'the right one')

My shop name actually came about quite organically. I've always adored letterpress and had thought in the past that 'Dimple' would be a great name for a letterpress printing company. Then when I decided to open a shop for my own craft which is quilting, I came up with a list of names and Dimple Stitch was the one that I kept returning to and so it stuck. I like to think it's memorable (time will tell I guess) and has the right level of being cute but not too cutesy. And well, I do have dimples :-)

Friends of mine now refer to me as little 'Dimple-stitcher', which makes me smile xx
