I notice lately that the thing that makes me click on a shop or visit a website the quickest and above anything else is an interesting name... I'm a sucker for an off beat or very creative business name and cant wait to see the products they carry so please post your interesting shop names below so we can all admire your creativity and interesting products which is the second thing that draws me in so please post your most interesting and unique item in your shop below as well.
Well I wanted a creative name and had one. I changed it when my spouse said "As an artist starting out selling your art, don't you think it would be better to use your name?" I saw his logic and changed it. It didn't suit me anyway but I do sometimes click on a shop link just because I like the name and then wonder about what they are selling.
@jackie Yeah, when I made my shop, I had a mohawk that I was going to dye purple later that week. Never did dye it purple tho...when I went to buy the hair dye they only had pink left. So that's what I went with.
@Storyleaf I feel the same way, guess I should explain mine.. Nueva Vida means "New life" in Spanish which is kind of a tribute to my daughter amor which is love in Spanish and "new life" because I like to take old discarded items and give them new life..... where odds and ends breathe new life again...
Awww thanks, Jackie! :) That's so kind of you to say... and that is what I was hoping to go for! The graphic designer I worked with was really sweet, so I know my graphics are totally original and totally me. I spent about 6 weeks before I officially took the plunge and changed my shop name. I'm really happy with all my choices, though.
I agree with you though, I get pulled in by great names. One of my favorites is Bake All The Things
I debated whether or not to use my name with my photography and my Etsy shop. I use my name with my writing which already has a website, blog, etc, behind it and years of writing/publishing. So for Etsy I decided to go with Poppiness because that's my garden blog/website which is what led me to photography in the first place.
I wanted an original creative name but now I wonder if it's more difficult for people to find me since it's not catchy or easy to remember. What do you think? Is it more about the name, or the items for sale?
Here's my newest creation, and one of my current faves.
@Marrisa I know what you mean and when I was researching info about starting my business every site would say when it comes to picking a name make it descriptive so people know what your selling but I find that that interesting names always get me browsing even in the mall if I see shoes I pretty much know what I'm going to get but my curiosity wont let me pass by thingamabobs.. but that's just me.. what do you guys think?
I changed my shop name recently. I've done website design in the past, and had a shop name that matched that. Now I'm back to clipart/graphics and wanted a fun lively new name, and came up with Lollipop Lime Graphics.
