newsletter or mailing lists?

Was wondering if any of you use a mailing list, or a shop newsletter? If so, how do you set something like that up? Was thinking of using this for offering past customers a coupon, or for notifying when there are new items on the shop? (only if they would sign up for this) What are your thoughts here? I'm very "computer challenged" so appreciate any help you can offer. I've tried to find something in the handbook, but nothing has caught my eye. Thanks much.

I have a newsletter that is sent out to people on my mailing list. Some are Etsy customers and some are not since it was started well before I opened my Etsy shop.

I only send out a newsletter about 4 times each year unless I have a huge announcement to make so that my customers look forward to my newsletter.
