multiple listings of same item in store

Ive noticed quite a few etsy shops that copy their listings. I'm assuming this is to get more views and have more items in their shops. Does anyone to this? Is it affective?

Re: multiple listings of same item in store

I have done this with my dog sweaters in my knitting shop with different views of the sweaters and different colors etc.

It does help others to see more of the possible varieties and options.

I only see it as a good thing unless the multiples are not actually available or possible.

I've done it too so that I can different thumbnail pictures for the item... one picture or the other might be effective to catch the eye of different people. Also, it's just more versions of my item that will come up in search.

I also do this to show the different colors of my items. I figure someone may pass over my item if it is in a color they don't like, they may not even think about there being more color options to pick from. I also list them in two categories holiday and clothing.

Yep, I do the same thing. A lot of my personalized baby items are for boys or girls, but if someone only sees a onesie with pink lettering they might pass it by if they are shopping for a boy.

Re: multiple listings of same item in store

Interesting question. I've sort of done that unintentionally. I sell my labels in sets of different amounts, but it's the exact same thing. Since the price varies based on how many you get, until recently, the only way to do that was to create a listing for each number of labels. I have made one listing now that they have introduced price variations, but I didn't remove the old listings, because some people have favorited them. I think I'm just going to rearrange pictures and perhaps take more in different colors in case one color/picture appeals more to someone.

I don't know if the multiple for the exact same thing is a good strategy or not. I think it can be confusing to customers, but I guess more chances of being found can't hurt either.

Re: multiple listings of same item in store

I have multiple listings for my soap dishes

simply because when I started on Etsy there were no listing or pricing variations.

By setting up multiple listings I could easily offer single units, pairs, sets of 10, 20 and 50 units where the customer could simply select what they wanted and make their purchase without having to wait for a special listing to be set up for them.

It also works very well for me because when we are really busy, I don't have to deal with looking for listing variations and /or pricing variations when it comes to packing. I simply print the orders and pack based exclusively on the item titles.

And when you are packing 100 or 200 soap dishes in a week it really helps to have that streamlining in place.
