moo.com vs. Vistaprint, worth it?

Hi!
I'm just coming back to Etsy after a partnership split and am in the process of reinventing myself/my business and starting over. I am in need of some new business cards and have looked at both Vistaprint, which is affordable and what I've used in the past and Moo.com, which is much more expensive but produces much higher quality product. My question is whether it's worth it to spend the extra money on something like business cards or is a card that has your info on it enough? Do people really even keep or look at business cards anymore? I would like some insight into how things have worked for others. Thanks!

I used Vistaprint and when they run out I'll reorder from them. As a buyer I don't pay much attention to what a business card looks like. I'll hang onto it if I love the item I bought and think I might want to order from the shop in the future. The business card itself is not what sells me on a shop, it's the quality of the item and the customer service.

Re: moo.com vs. Vistaprint, worth it?

For business cards and promotional materials, I use Vistaprint. The quality is fine for those purposes. I do find that printed materials are very useful for shows, for giving to people, and so on. I have more interest in a shop willing to spend money to market itself via printed materials (whether online or brick & mortar)
However, I do use Moo.com for my printed greeting cards, postcards, and stickers because the quality is SO high.

I love the quality and the look of my Moo.com cards.

I receive many compliments on my cards. It is making a good impression with my buyers so no need to change at this point.

Never tried Moo, but I use Vistaprint and I love it. I think their quality is good and they often run really good sales on the site! One time, I ordered I think 250 business cards, and I got an additional 250 for free practically. So I ended up only paying about 13 dollars!

I love, love, love Vistaprint! I get my business cards from them and got a whole bunch of postcards when they were $5 for 100. I used my own photos with their templates and the postcards came out amazing!

We got great card from Vistaprint and also discovered if you search from google rather than going directly to their site you can save money! We did our in thick card stock which made them really nice. Worth the money!

Re: moo.com vs. Vistaprint, worth it?

I must say for ages I was so chuffed with my moo cards but I realised I was spending a fortune on them. They are superior quality and give great customer service but like Judy said it's not so essential to have luxurious cards.

Re: moo.com vs. Vistaprint, worth it?

I love my mini moo cards - I think they're more memorable because of the different size, and the colors are phenomenal (I used my own photos on them). The one time I ordered from Vistaprint, literally a THIRD of my 500 cards was completely unusable because they "drifted" or something in the printing process, making the whole image kinda "fall off" the card. The colors were very off too (greenish - bleh!), and I was so embarrassed to give them to anyone. The whole thing was only like $17, so I can't complain too bad, but for my needs I won't be using them again. I'm glad others have been pleased :)

Re: moo.com vs. Vistaprint, worth it?

I agree with Leslie about the mini moo cards- everyone I give one to loves them.
I have stickers with my logo from Moo as well, I like to use them to seal packages- I think it adds a lovely little touch.
Never used Vistaprint, but I don't do that much business, so I don't think I'll ever run through 500 cards...

Re: moo.com vs. Vistaprint, worth it?

Yes, I had moo cards with rounded edges, double sided custom ones. I had SO MANY remarks about how amazing, memorable and unique they were. Go for the moo ones.

Re: moo.com vs. Vistaprint, worth it?

I LOVE moo cards. I use the mini moo cards as a tag on my boxes but also keep a few handy to hand out to people I meet if they are interested. I use the rounded corner business cards to make my earring and necklace cards with. They do cost more, but if you buy in bulk, it is a bit cheaper and you get what you pay for. I am aiming for a luxurious but simple feel to my packaging and the moo cards are perfect.

Re: moo.com vs. Vistaprint, worth it?

i personally have always been a fan of moo. but the thing was confirmed when i recently received a card a friend though i would enjoy and after a few drops of water POP!! its gone. moo cards particularly the luxe cards are as indestructible as paper can be.

check out this video: your business card is crap.

http://youtu.be/4YBxeDN4tbk

the best advice i have ever hard on business cards is from him: your card should be so good that even if they dont like you they wont throw it out. :)

my cards are meant to be kept. you cant tear it up if you wanted it. they have to be cut. :)

i use the moo luxe cards. they are 6x times as thick vista print cards and 3x as thick as regular moo cards which are already some of the best cards out there. i use the luxe cards as thank you cards as well since you can write on them without any damage or pen dents on the back of the card.

Re: moo.com vs. Vistaprint, worth it?

I use Vistaprint. Aside from the cost of shipping, I recently designed and received a huge amount of extra business cards, banners, posters, signs, t-shirts, magnets and more for free. To qualify for all these freebies, I had ordered 1500 business cards for a show.

Problems with the color on one of the items was resolved by reporting the problem and sending the precise color code. Within a week, I received a new shipment.

Moo is great if you want to spend the extra money for less quantity/better quality. Vista is fine though. I don't think people really judge anything by a business card.

Re: moo.com vs. Vistaprint, worth it?

I buy the Avery printable business cards and just print my own. Once I get more sales and customers, I might switch to having them printed elsewhere. My main problem is the font I use for my store name isn't a common one and I want it to match.

Re: moo.com vs. Vistaprint, worth it?

Thank you for all the great insight! I really think it depends on what you value. While others might not value the business cards, I know that I love when i get something beautiful and memorable in a package. So I think I might go with Moo.com for some and vistaprint for others and use them for different things. I do like the idea of the mini cards and the stickers for packaging. I'm still looking forward to what others have to say! :)

Re: moo.com vs. Vistaprint, worth it?

As an active duty US Marine, I and my family are stationed in Iwkauni, Japan. I ordered Vistaprint product about 2 years ago. When it was time to re-order, they said they changed their policy and no longer ship to FPO AP addresses (which are US servicemembers overseas).

It costs them NOTHING ADDITIONAL. It's the same cost as shipping to California. There are some restrictions on what can be shipped (ie. nothing caustic, explosive, etc.), but NONE of their products qualify. When asked WHY they changed their policy, they replied with a curt and dismissive answer AND said that as a non-US company, they had no interest for or against US servicemembers overseas.

I ask you to BOYCOT Vistaprint AND send them a nasty-gram letting them know their policy is CRAP.

Re: moo.com vs. Vistaprint, worth it?

Bryce, I had no idea Vistaprint was a non-US company. I just checked their website and see they have locations all over the world. The only thing I can think is maybe they don't want to deal with customs forms. I've had one order that was shipped to a military address and while it didn't cost me any more than domestic shipping, I was required to fill out a customs form. What was the reason they gave you?

You might also check out PrintFirm as a source. High quality and reasonable price IMHO. 1000 cards 14pt stock printed front and back for under $25 plus shipping. I've used them for years and they do good work.

Re: moo.com vs. Vistaprint, worth it?

I use overnightprints.com or uprinting.com. Overnightprints has mini business cards. Uprinting has die cut cards, which are pretty cool. Quality from both is excellent, better than vistaprint in my opinion.

Re: moo.com vs. Vistaprint, worth it?

I've used both. I liked my Moo cards, but I actually have been so pleased with all the materials I've gotten from Vistaprint. So far that includes cards, banners, posters, sticky notes... Their prices are good and their delivery is pretty quick. And, so far their customer service is good, too.

Re: moo.com vs. Vistaprint, worth it?

Hi, We have used gotprint.com for several years and their products are fantastic. The one problem we had with an order was they printed the backside of a card vertical instead of horizontal but after I called them they sent out a whole new shipment printed correctly. This was an order of 5000 business cards we designed for our product tags. This gave us 5000 free because they didn't want the original shipment sent back. Even though the backside was wrong we did use them with a label so the error didn't show. We love gotprint.com but willl certainly look at moo print too.

Re: moo.com vs. Vistaprint, worth it?

Bryce,
That is terrible! I do know that the only problem with shipping I have had is to APO/FPO Addresses and the problem wasn't me taking the time to do customs forms ( very little to take five minutes at the post office for those that sacrifice all for my country) the problem is that I can't track the packages once they enter into the military system and many packages take a very long time. I can't guarantee a delivery time or have the ability to find them if they are missing. I still ship to all military addresses, but have had packages disappear once they exit civilian post, so that could be their reasoning- but she could have been nice enough to explain that!!
Thank you so much for you and your family's service to my country !
Blessings,
Kijsa
