models for jewelry

So yesterday I called a bunch of my friends together and had them model some of my jewelry for Etsy, and I thought the results came out so awesome! I think that it really adds a little something different for a jewelry designer to have their work on actual people rather than just a white background. Has anyone else found that this works? What are your thoughts?

Here's an example.

Re: models for jewelry

That's a much better idea than trying to photograph yourself with your stuff on.... :)

Re: models for jewelry

I really like when jewelry is modeled. Its also helpful to have some clear closeup shots in addition. Great job!

Re: models for jewelry

They are much more photogenic than me haha. Hope that gives some people ideas! How does everyone else photograph their stuff? I'm always looking for new ways.

Re: models for jewelry

I read somewhere in an Etsy success article that some lady said her items sold 100x faster when they were photographed on real people.

Yesterday I found a shop that's very similar to my other shop, the girl has been doing it for not much longer than me, but she has five or six times as many sales as I've had. I think one of the reasons is because she uses models. She shows how the clohes she sells could be styled, and I think that really helps.

Re: models for jewelry

I think I'm going to try putting half of my items with real models and half without as the main picture and see which ends up getting more views

Re: models for jewelry

I don't sell the same earrings that I have them model. I always have two pairs haha. I should probably mention that!
