marketing saavy or scheme?

Yesterday, after a long day away from the shop, I came home to a convo from our vigilant, etsy vintage street team leader Tracy of 4EnvisioningVintage, that one of my items had been featured in the etsy finds email.

Tons of activity and item sold!
I was distraught to find that the sold item had a bad link to my glassware section and NO link back to the shop.
so...I scrambled at 10 pm to try and capture a few more viable views.

I renewed the sold set, but inserted a different set of four with a notice that the vintage set of glasses from etsy's finds had been sold. I corrected the link to my other glassware, made a pitch for the storewide sale I am having, put in the link back to my shop page and rearranged my shop to have more glassware at top!

here is the original item that appeared in the email:
app.bronto.com/public/?q=preview_message&fn=Link&t=1&ssid=12675&id=...

So now, when someone clicks on the original pic of four glassware tumblers, an active listing appears. This is the beauty of RENEW option vs the Copy option.

My question to you is...is this legit or is it deceptive?
Would you as a buyer be put off by being redirected to another listing?

Re: marketing saavy or scheme?

Interesting one. Yesterday I sold a book which has had a fair few favourites and I had another copy so was a dither. If it had been the same I would have just renewed but the sold one had a jolly red cover and the other copy was a rather subdued blue with a faded spine. So did a copy but not quite the same situation.

If the new listing is really similar I wouldn't mind as a buyer. Off to read the thread!
