Hi Guys
I have placed a message in my shop that international shipping may require further additional shipping costs.. I have run into this situation for the first time today...for over $3 each.... how to go about sending the extra charge?

My suggestion would be just to eat the extra, and count it as a lesson learned. I believe it's against the rules to ask for more money after the transaction has been made. For future reference perhaps you can use usps.com price calculator to calculate international costs.

Yes, we have a statement in each listing that we are happy to ship internationally, but will need a convo with a shipping address to calculate cost. Then, we add it to the listing so the customer can purchase it if she/he wishes. We have sold several things internationally this way- to Turkey, France, England, Australia, even SIngapore. Sometimes, the customer declines to purchase, but it saves us from losing money on shipping.

I'm going to second Ewe and say you need to figure out your shipping charges so you don't run into this situation. Either eat the extra cost or overestimate and charge more, but you're not allowed to charge the buyer more after they're bought the listing (unless, perhaps, they suddenly decide they want overnight shipping).

Estimate high and refund the overages.

I have them all pre-calculated based on what you will be charged if you are printing your ship labels directly from Etsy.
I only did them for the UK(includes Australia and NZ) and Canada
