getting me down...

Hi you lovely people,

I'm feeling down. Sigh, I had a flurry of sales in my first 4 weeks but now it’s all quiet on the western front. No sales. And it’s really making me blue.
I’d love some ideas of how to boost my sales, I’m on pintest, facebook, twitter, wanelo and I have a blog but I worry I’m not using these to their full advantage.
i would really appreciate any ideas on my shop/products/promotion?
Thank you so much in advance!

Much love

Emma

Oh, your bunnies and teddies are adorable!! You could have a little facebook promotion, i.e. "what's your favourite jumper?" and give everyone who enters a small discount? Or something like that;)

Have a look at your titles, maybe change the title for the bunnies into "easter bunny" or something like that. I wouldn't necessarily have "handmade" in the title, rather than soft toy, bunny, etc. also you don't need "super cute" in the title (who would search for that? it's obvious when looking at the pictures)

Re: getting me down...

I've not had a sale in over a month, and I'm getting traffic in my shop - it may be the time of year for you. It goes in cycle for everyone - believe me, I know how frustrating it is, but last year this time was very slow for me and it picked up later in the spring. Use this time to make new stuff, work on SEO, change your holiday tags for upcoming holidays. It doesn't seem like it'll do much for you, but it will pay off later on. You'll be all right - just hang in there. It's hard to come off a rush of sales.

Re: getting me down...

You're lucky with your 8 sales. I opened in January, too and still wait for my first sale. :(
Your shop is great...I'm sure that you will have many more sales.

Re: getting me down...

Hi Emma,
One thing that worked for me was extending my titles and making them more general. For instance: "Teddy Bear- Knitted Teddy Bear- Plush Toy- Baby Gift"
Someone gave me the advice to create my titles by thinking what would someone type in the search to find an item like mine. My views doubled just from doing that, as well as adding more tags.
Your items are really cute! I agree that it is probably just the time of year...maybe you could add an Easter tag to your bunnies?? Market it as something to add to an Easter basket? Just a thought.
Best of luck!

Re: getting me down...

Hey Emma,

Let me just comfort you in saying You are not alone! Sales have been super slow for me this month as well. But like Erin said, this time of year was slow for me in 2012 as well. Summer really got busy, for some reason. Maybe because a lot of my things are beachy and summerish and so not very popular in winter. Plus, there aren't really holidays this time of year either.

Just stick with it, and don't let the nature of retail and business get you down. Go out and get inspired to create more things, or take a look at current trends and design for that if possible.

It will get better. :)

Re: getting me down...

Emma,
Your store is awesome! Your products are so cute and original. I have a feeling you are going to do well -- and actually you already have! 8 sales in such a short time seems great to me :-) Keep up all the work you're doing and it will happen.

Re: getting me down...

Hi Emma,
I think this is the situation for a lot of shops at the moment, so try not to worry too much :o) It's definitely the same for me too. I completely understand where you are coming as it can get you down a bit, but at the end of the day there isn't much we can do apart from grin and bare it, and hope it picks up soon.

Keeping my fingers crossed for you and all of the other shops struggling at the moment :o)

Re: getting me down...

Have you been listing items on a consistent basis? I've noticed the more I list, the more sales I get. :)
