How many of you do etsy as your full time job? I mean how many of you rely on selling on etsy to make a living? I always wonder.........I would love to be one of them, wonder if I will ever get there.
I didn't have a job for quite some time (I was a part time student) and I used a few different Etsy shops over the years to try and get some extra income.
Since I did put more than full time hours into my shops - again, despite being a part-time university student, I honestly can't fathom how others manage to do it & be successful. I simply plan to keep this store as long as I find it enjoyable to maintain it. I do really love making jewelry & working with different stones.
An etsy shop, regardless of time spent is full time. I budget my shop with life, kids, home, part-time baking job and one private childcare business. All of this to me is full time.
Etsy is my full time job. I use my income from Etsy to provide preschool for our son and health insurance for our family. Without Etsy we wouldn't have the ability to pay for things like that.
I'm really enjoying reading this tread. Everyone has a different story, with a different step in the path to achieving a similar goal. Mine is that I have been the manager of a bead store and decided recently to step down (take a pay cut) and cut my hours so that I could focus more of my energy into my business. It's scary! I make just enough to cover my bills with nothing over. But I'm motivated! And I'm so much happier and fufilled doing it!
I'd love to make art my full time job, but I'm nowhere near it yet. I'm just plugging away right now, and waiting on the Lord for His plan for everything.
I had to give up my job last year for health reasons, so I started to make things while I recuperated, it ended up with my being on Etsy and this week I opened my market stall in france, so yes, by default, I am working on this full time.
I gave up my day job a few months ago. I've been lucky enough to have steady sales recently that have allowed me to do that. I'm still nervous about it, I always wonder if it will last! It took two years to get to this point...It does take time to get established.
I work my Etsy shop full time and then some. It does not pay too many bills yet but I am not giving up. My goal is to support myself with my shop and if slow and steady wins the race, count me in.
I have not taken the leap yet to make my biz my full time job. I still work outside the home. However, my site and various online venues is what keeps my biz ticking
Etsy is my only source of income now that I am unable to work outside of my home. I just started selling on Etsy, so don't know how profitable it will be. I have been happy with my sales so far!!!
It would be nice if Etsy or selling my creations was a full time thing but i feel it is a bit of a catch 22 as i need more spare time to create things, photograph them and list.... i feel as though it is taking me ages to get my inventory up.
I would love to do this full time! I teach and have summers off, but my teaching income is pretty low so am always looking for ways to make money. However, I do this because I love it, whether or not the money comes. BUT, I share the dismay of those with low views...I have been on Etsy as a seller less than a year, and have read, tweaked, etc. etc. but it seems very difficult to raise views, It's like having your store on a side street rather than on the high street! How to get more people into the shop?!
This is my full-time job, but while most of my business is on etsy, I have other venues that I sell in as well. I worked very hard to get to where I'm at, and continue to do so every single day - and yes, it is well worth it!
This is my full time job, but just for the summer. In the fall I go back to my "real job" -- don't tell them, but I'm hoping I can build my business up enough over the summer that I won't have to go back. ;)
I have a regular 9-5 job that I do from home half the week then the office the other half and I also run my Etsy shop full time so I am most definately burning the candle at both ends. My hope is that sales will become more consistant and I can drop my 9-5 and just handle my Etsy shop. I feel i need to give the current situation at least 2 years before dropping my regular job though. I have actually been making more money with my Etsy shop than my regular full time job but I just don't think it would be the smartest thing to do just yet.
