Re: custom orders

You have to take pictures and post the item like any other listing. Put "custom order for ________in the title then send the link to your customer so they can purchase it. The custom order thing is just like a conversation. It is basically "can you do this"? I have had to turn down a few custom orders. Just because you are willing to take custom orders doesn't always mean it is possible. One lady wanted 200 sea glass trees for her wedding. I would have to drill 2000 pieces of sea glass, which I don't even have, as well as buying 100 bits for the drill.
Don't be surprised if someone requests a custom order then disappears forever. This happens frequently. Don't start a significant project without a deposit. If it is something small and easily sold I just go ahead and make it and hold it for the person for 72 hours in my shop.

Re: custom orders

Hi Katherine,

When you build a custom order from a conversation you end up with a Private Listing. It will be visible only to the customer you made it for. Once it's purchased, it will be shown as a sale, don't worry. At least, that's my experience.

Are you sure your customer purchased it already?

Best of lucks!

Re: custom orders

I always tell a customer after they inquire about a special order that it needs to be prepaid. When I first started selling I would make the requested item, then let the customer know when it was finished, many times I never heard back from them.
Lesson learned.

good luck

Re: custom orders

I have a special .jpg that I post for special orders. After emailing a customer and making sure they agree to the terms of sale (my special orders are not returnable and sometimes more expensive - but all of that is agreed to in advance) then I post the special .jpg that says "custom order for _____" The buyer must complete the purchase before I start on the order. I have had customers decide not to make the purchase and I have had customers purchase willingly. I am happy either way.

Re: custom orders

The best way to make a custom order is to use the conversation, as Cecelia described above. Good luck!

Re: custom orders

Yes, and make sure you get paid first before starting any work. I had many people want custom orders, I made them, than they disappeared. Luckily enough, I was able to resell the items to others on my store.
