copyright question

I have been making quilted ornaments for a wiehl. They are one of my best seller on etsy and at craft show. I have had people ask if I had any with the Sporting KC on it (a score team in Kansas). I am not sure if this would violate copyright lows. I think it will. But I can find the fabric at Joann stores and I have seen other at craft show with the team logo on there items.

I am almost positive it will be a violation of copyright laws, but I wanted to ask and be able to tell my customers why I don't have any ornaments with the Sporting KC logo in it.

Yeah, totally against copy right law if your making it to sell it. I would steer clear of doing it.

It's trademark law that it violates.

That is what I thought.
I looked at the selvage edge of the fabric and it even has "for personal use only."
So I wont be making them.

I once got contacted by etsy's legal team, because I had described a frame with added space to write under it as a polaroid frame. At the same time I see Disneys TM being violated over and over again in etsy shops without the legal team doing anything about it, so if you are willing to run the risk, you could probably do it. It would be a violation of their trademark however.

Etsy's legal team doesn't do anything against copyright or trademark infringement unless the holder makes a complaint. Disney isn't looking and is difficult to contact.
