breakdown of 'stats'

could anyone tell me how the shop stats work/ how people get to each traffic source?

when it says 'your listings' and 'your shop' did people find these from search, because there is also a 'search' category, so what is the difference?

I hope this makes sense.

Re: breakdown of 'stats'

Search means the search bar up top. When it says they got somewhere from your listings, your shop, or your sections, that means they clicked around inside your shop.

So, if I search for mittens, and I see a pair of mittens you made, and I click on them, you have one visit from Search.

If I then click one of the previews of another item you sell, for example a hat, (either in the sidebar or the related items list at the bottom of a listing), the visit to that hat would be sourced from "your listings."

If from there I click to your shop's main page, that's a visit to your shop from your listing.

Then if I click to a scarf from there, that's a visit to your listing from your shop.

Total: 3 listing views, 1 shop view
Sources: 1 search, 2 listing, 1 shop

Did that make sense?

Re: breakdown of 'stats'

Yep like Mackenzie said it can be confusing because if 1 visitor spent a lot of time checking out different items in your shop that 1 person can result in an unlimitied # of listing views, shop views, and different sources. It is helpful to see things in the traffic sources other than etsy.com to see where people are starting from outside the shop but it is hard to distinguish once someone is inside how much of your stats that 1 person is responsible for.

The other challenge is not getting too excited about high views bc high views does not always equal high sales. I could have gone to your shop and looked at every single item and that now goes down as 47 views. But I'm sure you would have much rather had 47 different people looking at your shop.

And just when you think you've started to figure it out you realize there is no pattern to the whole thing! :)
