Yay or Nay Shop name in photos?

I'm constantly experimenting with photos in my shop to see what will maximize exposure for things like treasuries, yet still showcase my jewelry for my clients who keep coming back for more. So, I'm wondering if those of you with more experience could chime in on whether or not it is a good thing or a bad thing to include your shop name in some (not all) of the photos in your shop?

My thinking is that this will help shop identity when photos appear on FB or Pinterest. Your feedback is appreciated!

Personally, I think that it becomes the focus of the picture. Anything that takes the eyes focus off the product should be used sparingly.

Re: Yay or Nay Shop name in photos?

Agreed. Can you lighten the font to grey so it doesn't draw the eye as much?

Actually, those are some of my gift tags. I just took some photos of rings sitting on them to see how they'd look, so I can't control the color of the lettering. Thanks for the feedback though..please continue!

I vote no. You don't want anything distracting from your item, and you'll never make the front page with a cluttered photo.

I agree with PPs - it'd be ok to have your name, but more of an opaque water mark. Can you add it after using photo editing software?

I like the idea but more of a watermark look might be less distracting. I feel like you almost lose sight of the products.

Good idea with the watermark...I've seen that done quite a bit with photography shops and artwork. I'll give that some thought. Thanks for the feedback!

Use a watermark. I have found my photos on other websites that are selling "my" products as their own.

to much... my eyes focus on your name way before the product.

Nay from me, too distracting as it makes me focus on the writing, not your item :)

I agree that if you lighten the font it will look more like a watermark but nicer. ;)

I like the font of your shop name, it looks great with your jewelry.. But maybe watermark would look even nicer. Great idea though!

I agree that in those photos, the text is much too dark. I also feel that the background is too busy and/or the item for sale isn't shown large enough. Could you blur the background a bit? (I know this is a photographic "trick" but don't know how it's done.) You might also try the image "cropper" on the 2nd page of the listing process (this is actually a zoomer, rather than a cropper, as it doesn't actually do anything to your image).

Re: Yay or Nay Shop name in photos?

Yes, thanks for those tips. I do use the cropper, and most of my images are a lightly textured or plain background so they are not distracting. Examples...

I was just experimenting in the first two examples with a couple photos taken on my gift tags to see if the effect was desirable or not. Thanks again for your input! I think I'll stick with my original photo style. :)

Re: Yay or Nay Shop name in photos?

I would like it very much if the lettering were not so dark to draw attention away from your ring.

Re: Yay or Nay Shop name in photos?

I think it depends on how it's done. I hate it when they put a shop name or watermark over the middle of the item. I can't see it and move on to something else. Some discreet watermarking on a corner would be ok. I understand why it's done but I think some lose sales because of it.
