Window Shoppers

Do you ever get messages from people who seem like they aren't really interested in buying anything but will message you back and forth for days? I have this one woman message me and she's very picky (which is fine) but she keeps shooting down all of my ideas. And she frequently says "i don't want to spend a lot" on things. I'm not really sure if this very long conversation will result in a sale, but I also don't want to turn her away.

Any tips on how to deal with these kinds of customers?

Also, what do you do when customers messages are unintelligible (no punctuation, bad grammar, etc.)?

She may wish to carry on long conversations, but you don't need to:) I think I would keep my response short and polite - "thank you for your thoughts" and leave it at that. Eventually she'll either buy or run out of complaints.

Re: Window Shoppers

I had one of these a few weeks back who was actually another etsy seller. I was perplexed but answered her questions and left it at that. I think polite is always the way to go but once you have hit your threshold for time and patience something like : "Thank you for your interest. Please let me know if there is an item you are interested in purchasing" and let it go. My biggest concern for customers like that is what will the end game be once they receive their order? Are they going to be the kind who wants a refund because they dont LOVE it? Idk, just food for though. Good luck though.

Re: Window Shoppers

I direct people to look at my shop and website and remind me them I can make similar things to their liking. I ask for links to other pages if they say they are interested in a specific color (I like to see an example of what Robin's Egg Blue means to them), but pretty much leave it at that. The items I make aren't that complicated, and I'm not looking for a penpal.
