Thanks!
I agree with you about giving buyers options.
One of my concerns is providing etsy with the routing number for my bank acct. and their hackability.

Ok, that might be a point...you could open a second checking account with your same bank.(the chance that your # is compromised, that account wont hold your main funds this way)
Give that # to etsy, when etsy makes their deposits you then transfer it into your checking, savings what ever you need from your online account with them.

Personally, Ive used both the DC and the gift cards since they first came out. Have had no issues, and i LOVE not having to try and walk a computer illiterate buyer though paying with a CC with pp! 0o

If you are in the USA and use Etsy's direct checkout as a form of payment, then you automatically will accept Etsy gift cards. You don't have a choice in the matter.

I haven't received a gift card purchase, but being able to use direct checkout has been a blessing. It's not anymore costly that using paypal and customers have really responded to it. I would say that 70-80% of my recent sales have utilized direct checkout.

It's kind of nice to have it all in one place (sales, money tracking, etc) rather than having to use paypal to figure things out.

90 percent of my sales in 2013 have been purchased through direct checkout. One of them was paid with a gift card. I've never had any bank issues or trouble with deposits. I love having another option besides Paypal and apparently so do buyers.

I think it would be beneficial for your shop to offer direct checkout.
