Why create a private treasury?

I just noticed someone added one of my items to a treasury but it is private. So only the creator can view it. I was just wondering why someone would set their treasury to private. Just curious...

Re: Why create a private treasury?

I've wondered that too, and wonder why people keep favorites private, as well.

Re: Why create a private treasury?

People keep their favorites private because they feel like it's a way out of their shops. There was a huge uproar when all these links became more visible some time ago.

As far as the Treasuries - yesterday I was having trouble with the search - my computer kept locking up. So I saved the partially completed Treasury as a private collection. And some people make them ahead of time and release them later all at once.

I keep my favorites public so I can search my own favorites from my other shops. Sometimes I want an item from one shop's faves for another shop's Treasury.

at first I thought it was strange, but as the mad woman above me says, it's a way out of your shop.

Re: Why create a private treasury?

I've made about three private treasuries. I make them so that I can keep track of things I actually do intend to buy - I tend to just add things I like to my favourites, and if I add things I want to buy to that and to that -only- might lose the links among other items, and if I keep internet tabs open I may lose them among the rest, so I use treasuries for that. Though, obviously if I intend to buy something, I'll favourite it too, it's just good manners :P
I've also, lately, been using private treasuries to keep track of different gifts I want to get some of my friends, so that I can very quickly and easily compare both the products and the prices on one page. If I made these treasuries public they wouldn't look very artistic :P

Basically, private treasuries are good for list-making ^^ I only make public treasuries for art's sake.

Re: Why create a private treasury?

Such a simple question, but how do I keep a treasury private? Sometimes I start on one and am interrupted, don't want to lose it, don't know how to save it without it going live as is. Help?

Re: Why create a private treasury?

There are two radio buttons at the top of your treasury, above the tags. One says Everyone - that makes it public. There's another one that says Only You - that keeps it private.
