Re: Why are my items not selling?

first off, you really need to work on your titles. your titles give no indication as to what the item is, so how would someone know to look for 'tweet' to find your necklace?

your pictures are also a little cluttered, and it is hard to tell what the item is.

thirdly, try promoting your items through twitter, blogs, or facebook.

I hope this helps :)

Re: Why are my items not selling?

Without looking at anything else, your pictures are VERY dark. It makes me want to leave your shop without even looking at anything.

Re: Why are my items not selling?

what i did that helped was updating one item a day for a month at different times during the day.... minus weekends. This helped a lot... I need to do this again.. ^__^

Re: Why are my items not selling?

Well, I'm very new here, so I'll just start with the one obvious thing I see. Your titles are all very clever names for the items....but they don't tell people WHAT they are. Your title should start with the basics...the thing people will search for. So for example the first word should be "earring".

Right now, your titles will not show up in a relevant search. i.e. someone searching for "rainforest" is probably NOT looking for earrings but that's where your item would pop up.

The other thing I can say is you have to work at it. To get views you have to join circles, like other objects, make treasuries, etc. Hopefully if you can get your items seen by enough people eventually they will make it to the right buyer.

Good luck!!

Re: Why are my items not selling?

I am in the same situation. I think my titles are clear and descriptive with the most relevant 3 or 4 words at the beginning and my pictures could use some work but I think they are not that bad. I have tweaked my tags a little but perhaps I am missing something there? I have been adding to my circle and going out to find things I like and adding them to my favorites and have been added to at least one treasury.

I would love some objective feedback.

Re: Why are my items not selling?

I agree that your photos are very dark. It is important to remember that when people look at your items in a search, most of them getting their first impression of your shop from a tiny thumbnail picture.

It is also really important to identify your target market (if you have not already done so). This will help you determine where you should focus any promotions.

Good luck!

Re: Why are my items not selling?

Just took a glance but noticed:

1-no shop banner-get one ASAP
2- line under shop should not be your shop name repeated- people need to know what you sell and maybe style, or material
3-dark pics I know already mentioned
4-style the halo around the edge of the pics suggests an old time feel- but your shop is called simpliscity which conqures images of clean lines, uncluttered, simple, pristine images

Re: Why are my items not selling?

Definitely need to fill out your policies page in detail, right now I don't see anything on it. And as the others have already mentioned, brighter photos, and a banner will help your shop look more professional.

Re: Why are my items not selling?

All good advice. My first impression was confusion on what the product is. I agree that the title should definitely say earring, necklace, etc. as the most important part.

Re: Why are my items not selling?

Hey there!
Your stuff is really cute :) definitely work on your item titles and tags, in your title for 'somethin blu' you could use, blue rose ring, rose ring, rose adjustable ring, etc, also use more than 1 word for your tags, this helps people find you and your items, which leads to sales, trust me, a little bit of work revamping your store & making titles & tags relevant WILL work! :)

also, in the description, make a lead back to your store for people to look at more items, i.e 'For more gorgeous jewellery check out my store: http://www.etsy.com/shop/Simpliscity?ref=pr_shop_more

Good luck :) I hope that this helps & leads to more sales..

Re: Why are my items not selling?

I could use some advice too. Anyone have a minute to check my shop? I don't have many items yet but I'm working on that.

Re: Why are my items not selling?

I'm new here also and don't have a lot experience myself, so if someone with more experience knows better, feel free to correct me. :)

Here are some of the things that came to mind:

- create a shop banner that represents your items and welcomes people to your shop
- include a description of the item on the title, for example "Welcome to 1960 Earrings", "Lima Bean Necklace"
-look through similar products as yours, see if they've gotten featured in blogs, magazines etc. and send a message/press release promoting your own stuff
-promote your stuff in showcases
-start a blog where you describe your work process and methods, this makes your stuff more interesting
-go to the library and find books on marketing and concepts & branding. For example, there's a wonderful book called "The Handmade marketplace" by Kari Chapin which I've found incredibly helpful and supportive.

Best of luck with your shop!

Re: Why are my items not selling?

More items, brighter photos and titles that say necklace or flower necklace so you can be found in relevancy!

Re: Why are my items not selling?

i just came from the shop and it is not complete.

1. Missing a shop banner
2. Write in a shop announcement to introduce yourself
3. Fill in your policies page
4. Titles need work
5.. Photos are too dark and not appealing

I was in your situation at one time when I first started selling on the web and know your frustration. Once you make the improvements you will be amazed at the results.

Goodluck and many future sales

Re: Why are my items not selling?

Hi! I have to agree with most of the posters, the whole "vignette" photo style that you have with your product shots don't really work well for Etsy. If you look at the items that are constantly featured in the front page, they're usually really clear, bright, and sharp!

Also, I think you should change your titles to more clear, concise, and straight to the point phrases (such as "Floral Ring" instead of "Colorfulness"). I like your titles, very creative! But with a site like Etsy wherein being seen on the front page of a search is key, you need to simplify your titles :)

Good luck with everything!

Re: Why are my items not selling?

I agree with the sentiments above. Etsy sellers need to realize that by "working hard" on their shop they work hard on:

1) making their actual items and taking good photos
2) making their shop listings relevant and search-able.

The second can sometimes take more time than the actual art! If you are only doing one of the above (and those two things can be further broken down), you are only doing half the necessary work.

Simpliscity, you NEED to start reading Etsy's blog, featured seller profiles, etc. Honestly speaking, from the look of your shop, you have not done any homework.

Re: Why are my items not selling?

Hello Lirio :)

As well as the great advice you've been given about naming and photographing your products clearly, I'd add that your 'About me' section could be a little more engaging and there's some information in there that isn't relevant.

I found it easier to fill in this section by asking myself a few questions:

What's your creative history - are you self taught or did you go to college?

What is your unique selling point - what can you offer the customer that gives you an edge over your competitors, for example do you work exclusively with recycled and natural materials?

The point of your 'about me' section is to give yourself a strong identity so that customers remember you, and you become a whole person to them not just an electronic shop front.

Don't forget to modify your 'about me' section as you grow to keep it relevant too!

Best of luck x
