Hi teammates,

You guys have some super creative shop names that I love, but I often find myself wondering what the story behind them is. What do you like about your shop name? How does it relate to your business? Is there a funny anecdote behind it? Is it a pun? Is it a tribute to someone special to you? Did you have a different name before switching to your current one? How do you think customers interpret your name?

I'll go first. I got the name Sassafras from a good friend of mine who always called me Sassafras when I said anything that was a little snarky. I also have a passion for botany, so a plant name just felt like a perfect fit for me.

Now it's your turn. Share your stories and thoughts in this thread!

Re: What's the story behind your shop name?

Hi everyone, My shop name was originally RMFShop - RMF are the initials of my full name. As my business grew we thought of have a different name which would be more relatable with the fabric and quilting business that I am in. I then came up with the name Royal Motif Fabrics which still had my name initials in each word (RMF)

Re: What's the story behind your shop name?

Our name was one of the hardest parts of the business. Since it is my Mom and I, our family has been giving the girls the middle name of Ann so we decided to incorporate the name in to our business. My dream is to open a store that sells a bit more than just handmade soap.

Re: What's the story behind your shop name?

"Down In Pencil" is a visual diary as told through prints.

I've got friends who vlog and photograph moments, whereas these specific scenes/events just have me itching to get it down on paper.

Occasionally I'd use the name as an email subject when going back and forth with clients. It's basically just an abbreviation - also it makes for a banger statement!

Down In Pencil is slightly undone, fully raw and wholly authentic.

They're love letters from my little corner of the world.

Re: What's the story behind your shop name?

My shopname is just a short form of my fullname and I addes Design as a timeless and at the same time "explaining" word what I am doing. I don´t wanted to make a more specific name/word because I am not sure what I will produce or sell in the future..

Kind regards,
Natalija

Re: What's the story behind your shop name?

My shop name is inspired by my three kids who are my world and the reason I pursued opening a shop on Etsy. Our family is into nature and birdwatching, so it seemed fitting to name my business after my three little birdies! (My official business name, Three Little Birds Co., was already taken, so I had to add on the 1 to the end!)

Re: What's the story behind your shop name?

deerxbear stands out for Lumine & Alex. We chose two forest animals because we love pristine, natural places. We changed the usual narrative that goes on between them. Instead of hunting and being hunted, we imagined a relationship that is based on collaboration. Usually, the bear hunts and eats the deer, so the latter spends a good time of its life hiding and running away. One develops fearlessness, robustness, the other grows with acute sensitivity in order to survive. The bear element brings the strength and the technical abilities , which is what Alex is handling, and the deer uses its sensibility to take care of the aesthetic & visual aspects.

Re: What's the story behind your shop name?

Mine is relatively easy.....my front door is purple! I painted it Tulsa Twilight last year and, since I've always had an affinity for the color purple, well...it seemed like a no brainer! The decor was added (design had been taken) to indicated my works aren't just for doors - they're for walls, inside the home lanterns, and more! I hope, at some point in time, to add yard art, as well!

Re: What's the story behind your shop name?

Our shop was be started from one of our staff who had taken a short term course about design and making a dress from a fashion and design school in Thailand. I found that I fall in love with making clothing. I found that I fall in love with making clothing. I started to study more fashions about clothing. I often to join group for learning and making many products such as crafts and accessories.

I have an idea to make business from my passion. I am interested about online selling. I want to sell my products via online.

On day, I consulted with Sophon who has more experience about online selling. He suggested me to start my business on Etsy. I asked him to join with me. Then we started our business on the end of Mar, 2013.

At first, we decided to sell headbands firstly. We tried to design more headbands and studied the ways to grow up our business on Etsy.

Later we were interested in swimwear. So we decide to sell swimwear such as retro and vintage swimsuits, high waisted bikinis and swimsuits and bathing suit.

At the present time we have many swimsuits, bikinis and bathing suits in variety styles.

Moreover we have more apparel, clothing and accessories example sleep eye masks, T-shirts, polo shirts, jackets etc.

We are happy to make our customers enjoy with our products and we can do our business grown up with our passion.

WOW, guys, your names are so creative! We love it!
We sell amber jewelry, so we have amber in our name, but what we like the most is our first word ""boreal" which means "northern".
We are in love with Scandinavian design, we live in Gdańska (northern Poland) and also we sell exclusively Balic amber, the most esteemed type of amber in the world which came to Poland by the ancient river from Scandinavia. Everything creates a full story and we love it!

Re: What's the story behind your shop name?

My name comes from "Chai" meaning life in hebrew. It is pronounced "hi" so i wanted to do a play on words of it, so i chose "the high life" but spelled with chai. I have a necklace with the chai symbol on it, and i love the meaning and feel very connected to my culture and who i am when I'm wearing it so it is very important to me

Re: What's the story behind your shop name?

I had tried several different business names for many years and I had some catchy ones, but everyone always remembered my name. Then one day I decided it would just be easier to put everything under my name and that ended up being the golden ticket. It's funny I had avoided that for so many years but I guess when you have an interesting name that can some times be what makes the difference.

Re: What's the story behind your shop name?

Hi, teammates!

I'm a fresh person there but I decide to share my story with you.

Fifteen years ago I became a mum and was sitting at home with a baby. I decide to open a site or blog for young mums with knitting patterns, advice and stories and I do open. Through the blog, I've found a lot of creative friends, an invitation from mum's magazine to publish articles about handmade toys and clothes for babies; also I've got an order to print the first book with dolls' patterns in it. So, Mamahobby means a hobby for mums and children; I decide to keep this name for Etsy shop too.

Re: What's the story behind your shop name?

The name says it all. It didn't take long to name my shop; Barbed Wire Leather Studios. I've always called my leather work Barbedwireleather. The name came to me as a Texan living in a cattle state fenced off with barbed wire. Pretty simple :)

KNOT living is a collection of home decorations and lifestyle accessories inspired by nature and minimalist design. We create all natural macrame pieces, soy candles, wooden accessories and more.

As for us, "knot" is a symbol of our love to simplicity and at the same time it is strong connection between us and our home, our family, our life-work.

We create simple, beautiful and meaningful lifestyle products. We take care about nature, that's why our products are eco-friendly and help to reduce pollution. We believe that "less is more" and we want to show people a lifestyle in which they can buy less and live better.

Re: What's the story behind your shop name?

My Dad is a deeply spiritual person, and I asked his advice in helping me name my Etsy ahop. He thought of Redeemer, like Christ is your Redeemer, & I thought it also means my high quality, handmade, all natural skin and hair care products "redeem" your skin and hair. So, my store name, Redeemer All Natural, has a double meaning, and it's a collaboration of my Dad's thoughts and my own. I thought it was perfect.

Hi, teammates!

Actually, the name came up thanks to Justin Timberlake song, with a little help of a friend, she suggested I should replace pocket with locket, considering I also do floating locket jewelry.

Re: What's the story behind your shop name?

Hi Everyone! I sure had a great time reading through some Shop Name stories. Here is mine.
In 2007 I started to join couples in Marriage as Wedding Officiant and selected the name JoyFilledWeddings and love the name. I then fell in love with making handmade soap and started to sell adorable soap favors to my brides as Wedding/Bridal Shower soap favors. When I discovered Etsy in 2010 it felt natural to open a shop with the name of JoyFiledWeddings as that is how everyone locally knew and knows my business. I no longer officiate weddings but I still sell soap favors on Etsy! That's my story and I hope to read more stories soon.
